  1. There are two ways to advance a T-rigged ribbontail worm. You can use your "Rod" or you can use your "Reel". Most anglers use their rod by lifting the rod followed by reeling down the slack to regain contact with their lure. Instead, you might want to stay in constant contact with your lure. To do this, use a "Crank-and-Glide" retrieve. Crank the reel 1 to 4 turns, depending on the water depth and lure distance from boat. Then allow the worm to glide back to the bottom on a "tight-line glide". Every time the lure makes bottom contact, simply repeat the crank-and-glide. In this fashion the rod 'never' moves, but remains stationary throughout the retrieve. Bottom contact is usually signaled in one of two ways >> The tight line will suddenly droop and form a line-belly >> The little V-wake made by the line will stop advancing toward the angler. Roger

  4. Fish them them pretty much the same as bass and snook. Most bass plugs, spoons, bucktails will work well, spinnerbaits too, they do make specific ones for redfish,

  12. You woulda went to the parking lot with 2 80 year old senior citizens....you go wid yo bad self .....seriously though i have read this post from the start and seen allot of i would not been as nice and "he woulda needed dental work" and so on, before we found out the 2 gentlemen were seniors. First the guy is out numbered. Are you really gonna start spouting off at the mouth when its 2 against 1? All that will probably get you is an a** kickin and appointment at the emergency room along with a broken boat. The fact is you can't rely on most people to be civil these days. How many people here carry guns with them? How do you know that the person you are about to be belligerent with does not have one too? Is it worth being shot or having criminal charges and possibly jail time because you wanted to tell someone what you thought? The kayaker handled the situation the way it should have been. Sure he was visibly upset and had a right to be so, but he didn't let his emotions interfere with the way he handled the situation. Stuff like this escalates extremely rapidly when people let their emotions take over and then you hear about the results on the 6 o'clock news. Point is keep cool, accidents happen. And if someone is intentionally being a butt then review the situation and figure out the best plan of action before your mouth starts writing checks your butt can't cash.

  13. I have baits that are coated with Devcon 2 Ton epoxy that are crystal clear and that is why I use it because it was the only epoxy I found that dried clear. I think it also states that one of its uses is as an encapsulant. Yes, I know too well about epoxy turning yellow, I've been making tackle for over 15 years and tried many different products and Devcon is the best I ever used, just make sure it is the 30 minute. BTW, you need to brush Devcon on, it is too thick to dip and when you brush it on don't worry about brush marks, it is pretty much self leveling so all you need to do is use your drying wheel and it will come out perfect.

  14. Line doesn't matter for skipping, so long as it isn't rope. What matters more is the cover under the trees. If you need something more then 8 lb. line, then consider 20# braid and a 10-12# leader. Another bait that skips easily is a butt rigged Fat Ika. Another often overlooked bait is a topwater frog or spook type bait. You'd be surprised how effective a Sammy can be under the canopy, if you have the guts to throw it in there.

  15. I'd like a show to be like the old In-Fisherman shows. They were nothing but explaining and applying the FLP system that they taught. There were a couple plugs here and there but not a ton like those guys do today with the angling edge. But the more you look at it the more it looks like that is what is demanded by the economics of TV today.

  17. Are you saying it is too easy to catch fish on Senkos? Is it somehow cheating for a skilled fisherman to use a Senko? When a jig is working very well do you change baits to make it more difficult to catch fish? Wanting to catch fish is a fundamental element of fishing. : I completely agree with fishing what you like, and what you're good at. To imply that Senkos are somehow not worthy of a true fisherman is silly in my humble opinion. :-?

  18. The GYCB Senko revolutionized bass fishing for many people, including me! The introduction of the Senko was magical, much like the original Lucky 13, Jitterbug, Rat-L-Trap, Creme Worm, Gitzit and Floating Rapala. I suspect the Senko has contributed to more tournament wins than any other bait over the past fifteen years. This would be especially true at the amateur level.
