  1. I like shows that fish public lakes, and name the lake. I like to see the lure that's being used and the presentation. Give an expalantion why that lure is working. Talk about water temps/time of year/weather and it's effect on the fish. If they're going to fish a sponsor's lure I have no problem with that as long as it's a named public lake. Shows where a guy is fishing in his private pond have no crediblity with me, and it won't lead me to buy whatever lure you're tossing. And please, no screaming and yelling. As they say in football, don't act like it's the first time you've been in the end zone.

  4. Ok, guys, it's fishing, not stock advice. Check your emotions at the door if you're going to post on this thread. Final warning before we shut it down.

  5. I'd like a show to be like the old In-Fisherman shows. They were nothing but explaining and applying the FLP system that they taught. There were a couple plugs here and there but not a ton like those guys do today with the angling edge. But the more you look at it the more it looks like that is what is demanded by the economics of TV today.

  6. The Loomis BCR 893 GLX is a very good Senko rod. In fact, other than the Loomis NRX 893C JWR, it's he best Senko rod Loomis makes. The rod is very sensitive and has plenty of power to pull fish away from trouble. Why are you even contributing to this thread since your BPS rods are your pick? Someday you will realize that you're talking out your ars when it comes to comparing the two rods.

  7. haha strolling, I do this with my deep divers on the Potomac, I'll kayak the width of the channel and let line out, once I'm to the other side I reel in and usually catch a big un. I wanna catch a 10+ pounder again, I caught my PB when I was 6, " strolling " from the back of the pedal boat. 10lb 15oz

  9. Good luck with that notion. You won't find too much consistency there. As far as shaking off, sound more like an issue of the way you play and land the fish than a hook problem. For extra wide gap worm hooks, I use Owner Wide Gap Plus. For some deeper bodied baits, like fat bodied creatures and flipping tubes, I'll use their offset point Rigging Hook.

  10. Worst sunburn I ever had was in Key West, 1977. Wore shorts and t shirt on a charter, my arms were blistered and I couldn't straighten them out for a few days. It was my first exposure to the sun in many months, The most important 4 letter word after you have been burnt...........ALOE! I don't mean what comes in bottle, but get the actual plant, the gel is a miracle drug, wish I would have discovered that the first day of my burn.

  11. Personal Preferance. I use 50lb green Power pro because I like that line and have no issues with it. Also it's the same line I use on my flipping stick so I can split the spool between two reels.

  12. M,MH, Hvy are actually Power ratings. Actions are rated Slow, Mod, Fast..There is no industry standard for rod ratings so it vayies from brand to brand. Try to stay within the lure wt ratings of the rod and look for the sweet spot. In general, a Med power might be a spinning rod for wts <1/2 oz, MH for typical T-rigs, jigs and cranks and Hvy for a flippin' stick.

  15. I'll also vouch for the Allen fly reels. I own a Alpha II and the Trout series reels and in my personal experience with them I think they're on the same playing field as the Ross CLA. Another reel than hasn't been mentioned is the Grey's GX500. I've been using this reel for the last couple steelhead and Salmon trips I have taken (I bought it on an whim.) . The first thing is for around $100.00 you get the reel and two spare spools. The reels itself isn't as refined as say a Ross or Allen, but it has performed well thus far. The drag on GX500 isn't too shabby either. I landed a few Steelhead over 30" with it and never felt overpowered. My cousin even landed a couple nice salmon with it as well and didn't have any problems what so ever. The only problem is that they're from the UK and it would probably be hard to find in the states. Now with fly line I perfer Rio, but in all honesty You probably can't go wrong with any line from the major manufactures like airflo, scientific Angler, or Cortland.

  16. Caught one of my best this morning. Posted Today, 09:43 AM Well, I haven't been fishing the local ponds other than a few trips to Collierville. My last several visits to Grove have not produced much of anything, and no size at all. The issue, I think, is just too many guys are fishing it now and a few have been taking some of our prizes. Anyhow, this morning I downsized to a Rage Baby Craw tipped in chartreuse JJs. My first bite was a small buck bass. At 7:10 I finally got smacked. The fat girl popped the craw as I lifted it just off the bottom. Made a good run and classic jump before being landed. The fish's tail was tipped red, I'm guessing on bed or just off...Could have something to do with the Supermoon...She looked big enough to go 8, but she was light.

  17. Fishingator, Don't be discouraged. Days like today can be tough for anybody. I fished the King of the Glades qualifier today at Holiday Park. Some of the best bass anglers in South Florida fish this series and only about half the field filled their five fish limit today. You've gotten some good advice. When the fish are not chasing, your choices get reduced. You can dead stick a senko type bait and just keep it in his face. Or you can flip, but that's going to be tough from a canoe. I would try pitching a jig. My suggestion the next time the fishing gets tough...try a senko or worm worked really slow or try pitching a jig.

  19. X2. BUT, do I get mad during a tournament and and let off steam? Absolutely, but it's almost always my fault for whatever it is that made me mad. Here is a piece of advice an old timer (deceased) custom rod manufacturer once told me "Learn to control your emotions." I would visit him with my dad when I was about 14yrs old. He would say that quote everytime someone was leaving his store.

  20. No pictures, but I went fishing today in my new float tube. I only caught two bass (I did more flipping then fishing), but it was a cool experience. I caught them both on a t-rigged plastic lizard; one was a dink, but the other one was a solid two or three pounder (it was pretty neat watching it jump at eye level). It was alittle ackward fishing in the tube at first, but the longer I fished I seemed to get the hang of it.

  23. Whatever you do, don't pay attention to the King's till their holding the cup. Vancouver didn't know what hit them (yes, i know one of the brother's was hurt first 3 games). Now their gonna sweep the Blue's. Can't score on a goalie, you can't win. Quick will be MVP too.

  24. Sounds like ur wires are crossed. Try to put ur positive wire on ur negative and negative on the positive. It wont hurt anything, Just change the direction the propeller turns. Its easier than tearing into the plug or motor. Its a quick check!!
