  1. I'd stop by the dealership, but not just to complain about their mechanic's lack of attention, but to return the tool. Mechanics generally pay for their tools out of pocket, and I'm sure he'd like to have his pliers back.

  2. Well, I dont post my trips on here very often. I've had quite a few days in the past couple years where I have caught 100+ fish, not to mention the 10.1, 9, and 4 over 8 I've caught in that span. BUT, I figure that today was worthy of posting. I went to my favorite fishing hole (yeah right, like yall dont know where that is) and got there about noon yesterday. Fished my first spot with only one short fish to show for it. Went out to some humps and ridges I knew about throwing a crankbait. Looked at my graph and finally saw a fish and boom...hooked up. I immediately threw out a marker bouy. I trolled about 50 yards further and hooked up agian. Looked at my graph and I was in 30 FOW and the screen was filled with fish from 30 foot down to the surface. Threw out another bouy and began fishing the two schools. Caught a few on the crankbait, but wasnt what I wanted, so I picked up a **** and started catching fish every cast. I doubled up about 30 times and tripled twice (Now can you figure out what I was throwing?) Ended up catching around 300 fish in 7 hours. My top five went 35lbs. Had a 8.5, two 7's, and two 6's. Oddly enough, about half the big mommas were post spawn and the other half still had eggs. I figured all the big fish had layed by now, but I was wrong apparently. About half the fish I caught were white bass and the other half was black bass. Even got one good striper to top it off (like it needed topping off!!). I've had some absolutely ridiculous days in my life, but nothing that even compares to yesterday. I got a couple pictures taht my aunt took, hope to get them this weekend to post. If anybody wants a trip...I charge $300 a day.

  3. Just got my package in the mail, Avid MHM. Couldn't tell you how fast I got out to the water with this thing. Came to be a good outcome on a nice day and some actual fish! Yeah finding fish stinks around here, but anywho about an hours time got some good shots off: And for the fish, one largie and two smallies:

  4. Hey my names Christopher I am 17 and i have been fishing off the shores of Lake Lanier for as long as I can remember and I am here to give you a very useful tip as to how to master this type of fishing when fishing for bass. 1st off- Trust your rubber lizards! Notice I said lizards, not worms. Thats right lizards, go out buy you a pack of Zoom 4 inch mini lizards in your favorite flavor and rig it up as if it was a worm, adding a bead to attract attention in murky waters. 2nd off- CAST CLOSE TO THE SHORE LINE AND UNDER DOCKS. Casting diagonally along the shoreline will allow you to reel the lure down the edge of the water about 5-6 feet out for this is where the majority of your Bass will be in smaller lakes. Also use docks to your advantage I mean sure you cant go on them but you sure can cast beside them! Docks are amazingly prosperous fishing grounds providing shelter for fish, be confident nearly every dock will have a Bass who controls that area under it cast several times on all side as to lure the Bass out before giving in and moving on. 3rd off- REAL SLOWLY. The more time you let your lure sink and sit and sink and sit and sink and sit the more time it will spend in the water, don't rush fishing is a game of cat and mouse between you and that trophy Bass, don't let him wait you out and win the game. Always remember weather its a serious day on the lake or just a few moments near the water to get your hook wet and ease your mind, enjoy it and have fun! -Christopher W.

  6. One word of advise would be to take any weeds picked up off by hand vs. slapping the water. Unless you like replacing them more often than needed.

  7. The Calais is refined and smooth but heavy. I much prefer the Core myself. I have a Ci4 Stradic that I like very much. The Stella and Certate both feel great but are very pricey.

  8. I have always liked quantums and own way too many too list, have a couple td zillions and a couple abu revos, but I was given 2 brand new shimano calais DC the other day and I have never had anything that even comes close to comparing to those. Just a different feel than any other reel I have ever used, once you get past the whirring sound that will freak you out for at least one trip, nothing compares to me! I would love to be able to afford an arsenal of calais dc's.

  9. Caught my first 5lber. 5.3lbs to be exact. I told myself I was going to mount my first 5lber but I just couldnt bring myself to do it and it wasnt quite large enough, just really thick. Plus it was during spawn so I kinda feel like that is cheating. So I have raised the bar for my first ever bass mount. 6lbs 2ozs or more. Then that fish will have seen its last day. But it was still a fun day of fishing, solid 3 and 4 lbers all day probably 10+ fish and an additional 10+ fish under 3 lbs. I think I found a new gem of a spot that no one fishes. But thats a secret

  12. That makes perfect sense, break off on a 5# bass but holds a 40# kingfish, cobia or amberjack, I've caught 100# shark on that stuff and I use 20#. I'm not saying one can't get a bad lot of line, but I haven't. I'm not saying it's best line there is but I'm not saying it's the worse either. I have little or no issue with any lines I use.

  13. Front always, they just are much smoother, even though I adjust my drag during a fight with a big fish.

  15. Let me start off by saying great post! I fully agree with you on most everything you said. However, I have to disagree with the highlighted statement. While that may be true where you fish, I have caught MANY, MANY more bass on a brown/green/orange combo. Now dont get me wrong, I still tie and use black/blue jigs quite often and think they are a good combo color to use. In my experience, on the waters I fish (both clear and stained) browns and greens catch more bass than black/blue. Jus my .02 Carlton

  17. I have some baits that look a lot like that, but a different color. They also were in a "kit" (along with several other styles of soft plastics) that my wife picked up at a yard sale. The kit was made by the Mann bait company. The ones that I have are kind of a watermelon red with blue glitter. THe smallmouth at an area lake absolutely love 'em! Tom

  18. Part is going to depend on how high the bow is. Get one too long and you have to raise the motor up so high in shallow water, the head gets in the way casting. Get one too short, and as mentioned, it will spend more time out of the water than in fishing white capped water or an are where you get lots of wakes. I like to be able to stick the motor three feet deep with the head all the way down. This will handle all but the roughest water and keep the head at a reasonable height in shallow water.

  20. This is much debated, for the most part it's personal preference. Keep in mind that IPT (inches per Turn of the crank handle) is the real measurement and may not correlate directly to ratio. You can't go too far wrong with either of the choices in the OP

  21. Or set it properly in the first place. No need to adjust it then.

  22. Catt gave the key to this whole situation: bass don't have arms. When you feel the bump take the slack out and SET the hook. Don't "pull" the rod high overhead, Set the hook hard by rotating your hips and keeping your rod parallel to the water. It should look almost like you are swinging a baseball bat backwards. At least that is how I can best describe it. Mike

  23. Hi Charles , I could write you a book on Little Rock shore fishing locations , as I have spent 30 years in AR fishing from the shore. Two suggestions for you, 1. find a good canoe or kayak (either one can really open up your options) 2. find a good friend with a boat and a passion for Bass fishing , lol. I will give you several places to try that should keep you busy for a while ,and if you have any questions feel free to pm me on here. You might also pick up an Arkansas Sportsman Atlas from Arkansas Game and Fish or a book store. Saline River access under I-30 bridge just southwest of Benton (lots of open shoreline along park with access to deep pools as well as shallow riffles) several more good access points downstream throughout National Forest land. Alum Fork of Saline River north of I-30 at Lake Winona off Hwy 9 (great wade fishing and canoe fishing area) good area just down from Lake Winona spillway. Victory Lake in Burns Park (fairly large lake separated from Arkansas River by rock jetty , when river floods it replenishes Lake with fresh stock) I caught a 5 pounder out of there one time. Lakewood Lakes in North Little Rock have some nice bass in most of them ( be very respectful and clean up after yourself as they are all in residential areas , several with park access)

  24. Lake pickthorne is a really small lake surrounded by an accessible levee all the way around and a few docks near the boat launch. It's between Jacksonville and Cabot if that's not too far for you. You have to get off in Jacksonville and take the feeder road towards Cabot, pay close attention or you'll definitely pass it.
