  6. Junk Scientific Bias: Whenever a fantasy is threatened, make claims that aren't backed up with any proof. Sounds like more than a few people are worried their halos don't shine as brightly as they think they do!

  9. Not sure about that, I think 90 percent of them have met KVD at some point over the years. LOL The only thing that bothers me about KVD name on lures is that I wish his cranks actually came with the same hooks he actually uses, other then that I have had fairly good luck on KVD name lures.

  10. Scientific Bias: also called "experimenter bias", is a process where the scientist performing the research influence the results, in order to portray a certain outcome.

  11. Go to Xpress boats or Alweld boats web site & you will see boat of 14'+ with casting decks front/rear, pedestal seats, and floors. My point is this can be done to any size boat but the narrower the bottom the more top heavy and the likely you'll flip it. Wood is more cost effective but the added weight kills the proformance of your outboard. As for "Wolmanized" or treated wood reacting with aluminium this is a non-factor since the chemicals used have long been changed.

  12. I use what we call a "finesse" C-rig, well actually two of them One is simply a Wacky Rig with a pinch on weight 12-20" up the line. The second is setup is like a normal C-rig but instead of a swivel & weight we use just a swivel to reduce line twist. Both are extremely effective on post spawn bass!

  13. NCBassmaster is right. You stick with your fish, but then move shallow. Alternate thought; I'd really look at the water temp when you put the boat in the water. If its 65 or higher, I'd start shallow first, then check your spot later, when the sun is up. The reason I say this, is I had a tournament a few weeks ago(I'm inthe south), and I had a pre-spawn hump that was loaded with big females..it was awesome in pre-fish. I spent 2 hours on it on tournamet day....nothing. Moved shallow, and eeeked out a 2nd place finish. My great spot almost cost me, cause I didn't fish the conditions. It warmed, they moved.

  14. I just use some Ardent Reel Degreaser when I clean my parts. After they've been thoroughly cleaned I apply grease to the gear, drag grease to the drag, and oil to the bearings. and spool shaft, and a few other places I think may need it. However because you specified alchohol I assume you are talking about your bearings. I dont think its too high, but i'm not DVT, so I'll leave that to him

  15. Seriously??? $130. I have several old Abu Garcias that are getting close to twenty years old and they perform like the day they were bought. They were all waaaay under $130. Mike

  16. XL is mono. Except you called it fluro in your post. I personally would switch to braid before I'd use 20 lb. mono or fluoro. Never used mono that heavy but imagine it will take some getting use to when it comes to casting it. EDIT: You posted while I was typing.

  17. they are supposed to sit with the back end lower in the water, and as for the lack of action, well this is were people get confused. Frogs are designed to be used in slop with a dragging type retrieve and in open water you have to make them walk, they don't walk on their own, at least the ones I've used don't. To walk your hollow bodied frog you need to fish it almost like a jerkbait, you snap twitch the rod with slack line and it will pull the frog up and to the side and as you repeat this action the frog will begin to come back with a side to side motion. That is the difference in all these frogs, some are really easy to walk but others not so easy but whatever the case it is not a built in action like spooks and sammys, you have to make it work.

  18. I was wading to my favorite spot on a shallow branch of the Kanawha in tennis shoes one summer, several years ago. My shoelaces had untied themselves in the current, whilst trudging through the shin-deep water. I halted my stride swiftly as a brown water snake zoomed by. I continued to look for it, motionless, as to avert any danger. Next thing I know, I feel a light brushing against my ankles. I shifted my weight, only to feel a constriction by the force that had brushed my ankles before. My first thought- the snake was out to get me. It "had a hold on my feet". I started kicking and hopping around senselessly as to escape the grasps of the beast to realize that the beast was only the nylon cords that withheld my footwear to my extremities. Now that I have shared with you my foolish anecdote...

  20. I ate a few pieces that were batter dipped yesterday in some mixture. It was good, clean white meat without a strong flavor .....but....knowing where some of these are caught would keep me from eating this. The mental assassination of a crappy canal with a shopping cart and industrial spill off running into it and food don't work for me. Maybe if you catch your own out of a clean lake or something but Im not frying up any muck fish unless theres a financial reason or life and death. Id still probably go to the pier before that happened
