  1. I've only been here for a short while, but I think I can say it with some level of authority. Hasn't anyone learned that threads such as these are rarely productive?

  2. There is nothing wrong with keeping of giving away the occasional legal fish. My annoyance is with the greedy that decimate fishing holes with blatant disregard for laws, regulations and sportsmanship

  3. 00 Mod, after selecting spell check go down to languages and select English / United States... Just saw it works on your home computer... It wouldn't work for me until I selected English under languages...

  4. The "bucket fisherman" who keep fish within the limits of the law have every right to do so. Not giving them your fish is completely reasonable, but condemning anyone for doing something that is legal to do, whether they are Latino, European, Asian, Eastern, Western, Northern, Southern, just like you , or very different is a waste of energy. I once kept some small bluegill from a local lake to fry for my parents. It was all we could catch, and was the last time I had the chance to do it. If you would have told me to get food stamps instead of keeping legal fish, you would not have liked my response.

  6. I have caught all of 1 fish on each of these. One of my goals this year is to become more proficient in jig fishing. Perhaps I will add chatterbaiting as another goal. Last season, my goals were to become confident in using soft plastics and lipless crankbaits, and ended up being very successful with both of these lures/presentations. By setting up a bunch of rules for my outtings last year, and sticking to them, I was able to force myself to learn these new (to me) techniques.

  7. Plus, they offer some great gas mileage savings. I'm looking to get one for my Sierra. I tow about 12-15K miles a year.

  8. I'm not any better than any other angler simply put its a resource for each type of fishermen to enjoy in there own way and it's a sustainable resource. Most states DNR will tell you that a certain amount of kill fishing is good for the fishery. Thats why we have creel limits. I have seen the big 7,8,9 pound fish floating by the weigh in on gville if you went around to all the ramps it would make your heart hurt. So i am no better. At least they use what they kill instead of letting it float and rot away.

  10. I'm up in Delray, for the most part the canal fishing around here has been poor all year, but residential ponds have been pretty good. For me anyway I've seen the bass fishing cool down quite a bit in the last few weeks, this is the time of the year when I put bass on hiatus until December. I did catch but one yesterday 5-6# in the late afternoon, the beach fishing is starting to improve, I hit Juno in the morning.

  11. Super flukes get me loads of bites, same with watermelon senko-type worms. never had any luck on any lures in small ponds. i think mainly because their used to eating small minnows and worms? idk, but bigger lures never really work for me.

  12. Have you considered one of our many great sponsors, Pinnacle. They make a micro guide rod in your budget that I have heard performs very well.

  14. Rinse it thoroughly under clear running water immediately upon return or after use. Lay them out to dry completely and you should be fine. If this is a regular thing I suggest having them deep cleaned more than once a year just to be safe

  15. Initially, the wood provided the stiffness. The glass was just to keep them in place. Eventually it became evident that wood was not the way to go, and they started using foam, which was only used to give the fiberglass beam its shape. The glass was then made thick enough to provide the stiffness and strength of the former wood components. That eliminated the rot and degradation of structural wood parts.

  16. I don't shore fish as much as I used to, but those requests always made me feel uncomfortable. That's just one of numerous reasons why I don't want any witnesses to what I catch, whether I'm on shore or on the water.

  19. I have caught more river smallmouths up to three pounds on a Mepps spinner than any other lure, and in the small streams it is almost magic.

  20. Learn to paddle before learning to fish. Life will be a lot less frustrating that way. A paddling lesson from someone that is an expert with long distance/sea kayaking would be your best route. Once you understand all the stroke necessary to maneuver the boat, add fishing to the equation. As far as rigging rof holders, graphs, GPS, etc. Do it slowly. Mock up any riggings and see if you can live with the addition. Nothing worse than wishing you never drilled that hole.... Have fun!

  24. Tom D. with all due respect, I completely disagree with this view. What I choose to buy may be a reflection of my values when comes to material things, or it may just be a reflection of my financial success or lack of success. In either case these are superficial issues in my opinion. Who I am as a person has very little to do with the content of my rod locker. What a person owns is a very poor indicator of who they are in my experience.

  26. Welcome back, Catt. Do you think you could answer a few questions? Are Senkos a good bait? Do bass eat at nite? Which brand of Flouro is the best? Are red hooks better than bronze/black hooks? Is the Toledo Bend Reservoir a good place to fish? Will I catch more fish using Diawa or Shimano?
