  1. If im using something along the lines of Yo-Zuri, or a cheaper line, I always spool all the way. But with the nicer lines $20 < X I only put about 50-60 yards on, with some 20# Stren HighImpact, simply because I like the blue color, and when I see blue I know I need to add more line.

  2. My first rig that's all mine. I did have a ranger with my dad and brother but time for one of my own. It's a 89 STRATOS 18 ft. With a 150 merc. The carpet looks brandnew in it new fish finders, and trollin motor. Bought for 2500$ the boat itself is in excellent condition. What you all think?

  3. My buddy showed up at 10 and we headed to the local power plant lake. Get there and launch, water temp is 63 at the boat dock. Get to the hot ditch and its 75 degrees. Bass busting on baitfish everywhere. I am thinking to myself, holy crap this is going to be awesome. Start fishing the banks with jigs, cranks, and plastics. 1 hour not a bite. Move to the middle of the channel and start throwing spinners, 2 fish in 2 hours. Hmmm, not the day I thought it would be. Get up on the bank to flip and pitch to the bushes. WOW, baitfish everywhere and I mean all over the whole bank from one end to the other. See a bass and flip, bass screams out of there. We finish the rest of the day without another nibble. The whole time there were bass busting all over. \ It seemed like the bass were not even interested in anything because they were mixed in with the baitfish and could just nab one up if they wanted. I was frustrated because we could see the fish busting and cruising all around but couldn't hook up. What could I have done differently.

  4. The potential exists to have a single fish hooked on an a-rig become tangled up and foul hooked with the other hooks on the rig. This could really be a problem. Had BASS stated this as a reason for banning the rig, I could easily agree. Their stated reason is nothing more than a steaming pile of what drops out of the south end of a north-bound bull.

  5. Think so huh? Won't deny that San Fran's D is scary. I also know that they got 5 turnovers from the Saints (another soft defense) and only won by 4 points. Highly questionable.

  7. I had a older portable hummingbird unit that feel in the water you could see it working on the bottom, had no trouble out of it.

  8. I'll repeat the fluke idea. I'd want to weight it properly though. You want it to fall at a slower rate like a stunned baitfish. Experiment with weights till you get a bite. I'd think a weight around 1/8 to 3/16 oz. would be just about right to start with. Twitch, twitch, then deadstick it. let it fall. fish it slow.

  9. I don't understand why you would want to buy a whole new reel for a travel rig. Dump the money into the rod and use one of your other reels. When you get back from the trip I assume you won't still be using your "travel rig"

  10. 6'6" M/F St Croix Premier or 6'6" MH/F Falcon Lowerider XG I own both and they are great rods for squarebills, jerkbaits, topwater, and pretty much anything.

  11. If you want one rod for all those, I would go with a 6'6" M power, fast action. Last year I "eliminated" that rod from my line up, thinking I could do all of that with my 7' M power, fast, St Croix Legend Tournament. While it tossed square bills fine 90% of the time, I hated it for top water and jerkbaits. And also found I missed the short rod for close in work with square bills.....sooooo.....I need to buy another 6'6" my self.

  13. As its been said, the hybrid is one tough line! Iv'e straightened a few hooks on a straight-pull snag w/ 15# test! I went down to 12# last spring on a crank/spinnerbait set up and like it a lot. Don't buy it thinking its a flourocarbon line, its has more stretch for sure, but slightly stiffer than mono.very abrasion resistant!.. I'm going to try the 15 or 20# on a swimbait rig this year.

  15. After New England dropped a serious Hurt Bomb on Denver Saturday, this little anecdote was floating around facebook ~ God asks Aaron Rodgers: "What do you believe?" Rodgers says, "I believe in hard work, and in staying true to family and friends.” God can't help but see the goodness of Rodgers and offers him a seat to his left. Then God turns to Tim Tebow and says, "What do you believe?" Tebow says, "I believe in your total goodness, love and generosity and that you have given all to mankind.” God is greatly moved by Tebow’s eloquence, and offers him a seat to his right. Finally, God turns to Tom Brady: "And you, Tom, what do you believe?" Tom replies, "I believe you're in my seat."

  18. That guy put a lot more effort into that than I did. I just got the IPT (inches per turn) and line capacity for each of my reels from the paperwork that comes with it or off the manufacturer's website, and then counted the number of handle turns so that I could best estimate the amount of line I'm putting on the reel. I usually only bother when I'm putting mono backing on for braid. It's not an exact science, but it's close enough for government work and keeps me from wasting line.
