  1. As many of you have heard there was an incident at the BASS open in Sandusky, Ohio. I was offered $1,000.00 dollars for a fish and was told by my "pro" how I was going to be paid and how "we" could go out to the middle of the lake to put the fish in his livewell. There was no signing of papers after the tournament and I called BASS on my way home to tell them about the infraction or at least let them know how I felt about the situation. I have been called everything from a "tool" to a "snitch",yet I feel I did the right thing. I had absolutely no reason to lie about this and I actually got along with my pro even telling him I would net my own fish so he could spend more time fishing. Just the offer really bothered me and made me wonder if he had done it before.Perhaps even in this tournament on the previous days. So, that is it from a member of this forum. I hope that if you are in a similar situation and have to make the right choice (albeit the difficult one)you do what is right in your heart and are able to look at the man in the mirror without regret.

  2. I found I got bit more rigging it tail down than up. Light wire hooks are a must, since using light wire hooks my hook ups has increased. By a lot. Does it matter? Probably not on most days.

  3. Here is another small batch of flat sided cranks. The Petey style bait is made from pine 3/8 thick, rest are 1/2 thick balsa.

  4. I think a Cabela's computer dude discounted the wrong Stratic and it was caught and removed. Just a thought.

  5. Fishing the tidal rivers in Virginia the bass will do a number of things: 1. Take a position facing the moving water and hide behind any structure they can find to grab an easy meal passing by. 2. Go into the grass/pads and backs of creeks and coves at high tide and feed along the shoreline and udner the pads and in the grasses. When the tide goes out they will move into deeper water as the shallow areas lose water. 3. Cruise the bank. 4. Cruise the creeks. 5. Go into an area where there is no moving water so they can rest out of the current. When we fish the tidal rivers we always throw to any wood, grass, pads, boat docks, piers, moored boats, duck blinds and any structure we can find. The bass will hold to the structure. Falling tides are the best as the bass will be forced out of the grass, coves and the backs of creeks. Slack tide is the worse as the bass will not usually feed during this time. Rising tides are OK but the bass will have more places to hide as the water rises. Try to throw your baits so that they flow with the tide direction. Remember, the bass will face the flowing water and if your bait runs with the tide there is a greater probability that the bass will hit it. We also throw to and from the bank and parallel to the bank and grasses until we can establish the pattern. Good luck and let us know how you do. Happy New Year!

  7. That's a tough one. What I look for in a jig rod and what I look for in a cranking rod are two way different things except I want them to be at least 7'. I would probably go with the 7' M/F St. Croix Mojo if I was in the same boat. I have that exact rod and use it mainly for plastics and small jigs but it also fishes a rattle trap or flutter spoon pretty well so it would probably work for what you're wanting.

  10. That was not happening today. Taylor and I got blanked on the south end of Kissimmee. We did however, lock down to the river and have an awesome bacon cheeseburger from River Ranch!
