Only you know what you are going to do in this situation. The advice you got is pretty much spot on,both the negative advice and positive advice. It kinda sounds like you have a tough decision to make.Something nobody here is gonna really be able to make for you.
Look at every angle, situation and consequence that might come from your choice.
As far as Anger issue, read some Joel Osteen.....I've been a much, much happier person since reading his book. The man has nothing but positive advice.Yes it's a bit religious....but for me it was well worth it.Make sure your wife reads it also....arguing and fighting is not good for the relationship.seems like every time I read something from you it's all I'm reading.
Rooster having some kind of a system to keep parts organized is fundamental to working on any reel IMO. One momentary loss of focus or an accident of some sort, and without a drawing you may be in trouble. Your method may work for you from now on-good for you. I will never disassemble a reel without a drawing, unless I have done it enough to know exactly how it goes together. Truth is I probably will not even then.
I professionally repaired devices far more complex than fishing reels for years. Having schematics available with "circles and arrows, and a paragraph on the back of each one" was as fundamental as disconnecting power before starting. Most of the time I did not need any reference material. I always had it though-just in case...
Did I mention always have a drawing available before disassembling a reel?
I can give you my 2 cents, as someone who has been divorced, because we fought a lot, and someone who is remarried and very rarely fights now. I don't think it would be very responsible for anyone to tell you to get divorced without knowing you and your wife on a personal basis. I can also tell you that when you and your wife fight, your both fighting, not just her, so to start with maybe looking at yourself and what you can change to not be part of the problem in your marriage. This might and might not save your marriage now, but will help you to become a better person down the road. You cannot change your wife, only yourself, and perhaps she might follow your lead and change herself. It will also help to set a better example for your kids.
I'm afraid this may be the best advice I've seen on here in a long time. If you two are already fighting and in counseling, and you're going to be gone for a while...well, let's just say that old adage “absence makes the heart grow fonder” isn't necessarily true for the wives/girlfriends of guys stationed overseas. I've seen it far too many times amongst my friends and coworkers.
See what feels best on your rod, which handle is comfortable when retrieving, most reels in the 60-100 range will perform fine, don't get hung up on brand.
My favorite lake is similar to what you describe. As the year progresses, the weedgrowth gets to the top in spots, is thick enough to walk across in others, and in sparse enough to fish most baits in in others. There is a mix of milfoil, coontail, which both get pretty thick, and braodleaf cabbage.
There is also plenty of pads and reeds also. I attack each area separately.
As Catt said, if you have 1.5 feet of open water, just about anything will work. as Roger said a detailed description of the weeds would help as some types look thick but are actually matted over and sparse enough to flip into.
Usually the clearer the water, the thicker the weeds. My lake is gin clear and the weedgrowth gets pretty thick in spots. I would love if it only came to within a foot and a half of the surface. Spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, plastics like the rage Eeliminator speed worms, you can find what works best for you. many more baits to choose from. My favorite is the Rage Shad as it will work over the top and through the thick stuff.
Good luck!
With 1 ½’ of water above the grass I can’t think of any lure you can’t use except maybe a deep diving crank.
You can flip/pitch/punch it with worms, creatures, craws, grubs, spider jigs, or tubes
You can fish on top with frogs, poppers, chuggers, rats, soft stick baits, hard stick baits, swim baits, jerk baits, worms or spoons
You can fish it with spinner baits or shallow cranks
So where’s the problem?
Maybe because an unbiased opinion is exactly what he needs. Talking to his friend? biased. family? biased. Internet? unbiased.
Also maybe he realizes that the people floating on this forum are pretty honest (like me) and can express their opinions to him in a way that might be just what he needs (ehh..not like me). I dont know why you say "public". The internet is public? I dont think so. ....eh maybe
But still. Hope you find the advice you are looking for.
Tony Romo is a known choker when games are on the line, and this isnt just hate from a Redskins fan, its fact, he is constantly blowing games. I hope you seriously dont buy the constant annual unwarranted media hype given to the Cowboys every year, especially by the people from ESPN aka Cowboys Network...
also, as a Redskins fan, i enjoy seeing you suffer as a Cowboys fan, especially the Cowpuke fans from VA, DC, and MD who have never even been near Texas...
I know the rage products have some great qualities and do catch fish, I just can't afford to go through three packs of rage craws (when I am smacking em ) when pacas are half the price and don't see a difference in hook ups.
I just notice how far his hand goes up on the belly of that fish, and how small the tail section is. Also a 13# is always fat, and that fish looks like a typical summer skinny fish.
Although I cant say it applies to all wardens, my dad and I got stopped once at the boat ramp this year. Went through the usual, asked to see our licences and checked out our live wells. At the time the lake we were fishing was close to flood stage, but I didnt know how high the actual lake level was. So I asked the gentlemen about how high it was, he proceeded (with a childish attitude)to tell me how he doesnt know, and looked at me like I was stupid for asking such a question. Just a genuine d bag.
