  1. Throw all your non-shimano products in the trash , replace them all with shimano products and send RW a cerified check for 100.00 and he will send you a certicate stating you are a bonafide member of "the posse".

  3. I have kept one bass in my life, the one pictured, tho I dont feel that information is owed to you. Your bleeding heart view towards bass is rather ridiculous and I find your assumptions as to my keeping or releasing fish a classic move from folks with your personal views. As said before, if I catch a fish legally I can do what I please with it. Both of my parents are employed in conservation, one through the USDA Forest Service and another with the Georgia DNR. If you had a grasp on the science of fisheries management you would realize that many fisheries biologist feel your beloved C&R is detrimental to bass populations in many waters. Too many fish because people are too hell bent on releasing every bass they catch, leading to even large lakes having large populations of small under nourished fish. http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/pond_management.html http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/slot.html http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/harvest.html And those are just a few from here on BR. That is a point of view, one many will find ridiculous. The sense of connection felt through a long day of fishing/ hunting ending in eating what you took so much time to procure is one you are missing out on. You cry as to the morality of keeping a bass, yet feel no pain for the 3 or 4 tilapia that swam in polluted fish farms with ammonia levels rivaling that of the window cleaner you spray on your windows that later runs into the very streams you so covet... all to provide you frozen fish for $11. Much less at Wal Mart, supporting a bunch of foreign fish farmers while hundreds of thousands scrape by to survive in our very own gulf. Think what you will, my ability to look my self in the mirror is not affected by your opinions, much less a fish, bass or not. I do feel tho that you should look into the origins of this past time as well as look into the way your pompous attitudes make you appear, hiding behind a keyboard or not. -Greg Mavity

  6. Old fart here, not THAT old but you can say I´ve been in this hobby long enough to have lived through several novelties ( photpofinish, Guanim, hyper realism and obviously old school ), you need your bait to look like ( in every detail ) forage ---> no, red head/white body, black, yellow, white coach dog ( black dots on white base ) yellow coach dog ( black dots on yellow base ), bone ( white stripes on black base ), silver black back, gold black back, silver blue back, firetiger n´such are extemely basic color patterns and they continue to work as well now as they have done for decades. In the final run, what catches fish is your ability to outsmart them.

  7. I spent hours yesterday and today looking for the elusive crankbait. The bad news is I suck at this game more than I expected. The good news is I read dozens of articles I would have never seen, found useful links I did not know about, and I even played a game of Bass Boat Battleship. I guess I won after all.

  8. All good points. I have informed him that he can either use the muzzleloader or the 20ga. It just isn't a viable enough caliber for deer. Although many deer, I am sure, have fallen to this caliber I dont feel safe with him shooting it. Especially for his first deer. Part of the thrill of the first one is a good clean kill and his chances of speedy recovery and humane kill are seriously deminished with this round.

  9. Old fart here! Only reason is that it flat works! I've said right along that a lot of these new fangled "natural" patterns (photo finishes, etc.) in crankbaits is a bunch of bunk. A bass by it's nature is drawn to an easy meal. Don't think it could survive if it was counting the gill covers!

  10. So, if I leave the GPS set off on the camera, I can safely drop my kids off at the playground with the white panel van parked in front? People that intentionally hurt children are usually people they know, not strangers on the internet.

  14. Clayton, I once had a wife like that. I have a much, much better one now. Show your wife this post.

  15. All joking aside clayton, I feel for you. Maybe next outing, you can have something ready and waiting to be microwaved or sitting in the oven warming. My wife is the exact opposite, I have come home and found notes that dinner was in the oven and to hurry up and meet her at the lake. I have had the sweetest little voice whispering in my ear at 5am that the fish are biting and it's time to go fishing. Heck, my wife even asks me to blow-off work so we can fish. My biggest problem is that she doesn't give me a chance to catch the big fish, she lands them all for herself.

  16. I fish very early in the morning so the chance of my wife calling is slim, she's sleeping, during the day she would not call unless it was very important. In the days when I played golf, every Sunday morning this guy I played with was constantly being plagued by his wife's phone calls. She would call as early as on the second tee, " when ya coming home?", we teed off at 7 to 7:30 am too. He got so ticked one day he just flung his phone into a nearby pond while she was still talking, HA HA. By professional he was psychiatrist, but on his 4 th marriage, I don't think either one of them were wrapped real tight.

  17. Well, do what I do then. My phone rings while I'm on the lake. Me: Hello, my love. Wife: Hey, babe. Whach'a doin. Me: Babe, are my rods in the rod rack? Is my boat in the garage? NO? Then I'm fishing. What in the heck do you think I'm doing. Are you hurt? Is the baby hurt. Did the house catch on fire? NO, then why are you calling me? Wife: When will you be home? Me: When the fish stop biting or after dark. Wife: Ok, I love you. Me: Love you too, babe. Bye. Hang up. OR Me: Hello, Love. What up? Wife: Nothing. I just calling to say hi. Me: Babe, did you get my phone call while you were at the gym or getting your nails done? No? That's because I didn't call you to ask you silly things. I'm fishing. I love you, bye. Wife: Ok, I'm sorry. I'll have your dinner ready for you whenever you get home. Have fun.

  18. Gotta be the "Gulp" variety. Which is a good reason not to use that crap. There ain't nothing you can catch on Gulp, that I can't catch using something more reliable and less costly.

  19. Hey just cuz I cook and do the dishes........... No I told her this crap might fly now but after I get back from deployment and I have my boat the craps gotta stop I'm not gonna bring the boat in cuz she's hungry or what ever. The kids will be older to noah will be 4 by then jack will be 1 1/2 so it might be easier plus she will have a whole year to get used to me being gone. I'm getting back in december which here in ny there's not much fishing then and huntings over so I will have maybe 4 months to spend qt with her and the kids befor I take the weekends back.

  20. rboat and BB HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD!!!! Well put my friend Well put!!!! Big fish grow slow, there are plenty of them in the lakes I fish and I catch many big fish and kill very few that I know about... Its just tough to kill a big fish knowing how long that fish has been alive and top of the food chain in those waters in til it makes a mistake and grabs the wrong lure... I have PLENTY of big fish lakes around me, I have Lake O, Stick marsh, Lower St johns, Kissimmee chain, Harris chain and many more all within an hour to 1 and a 1/2 hour drive. I have big Golf course lakes that I have access to fish and put my bass boat in that no one else gets to fish... but still kills me to see a big fish die. North GA We see you dont care to much about C&R as your Avatar is you holding a Bass in your house...... Fishing for food is far out dated because you can go to Walmart and buy a 4lb bag of Tilapia for 11 dollars... one plug along cost 2X that much for most of what I fish. anyhow keep on sticking them fellas and have fun!

  22. I crank with straight braid (45lb test, just because I use that rod the most), rod action is Medium Heavy, I've never lost a fish due to pulling too hard. Just have to set the hook differently. Give it a nice sweep to the side and you'll do fine.

  23. Thanks for all your replies! I'll definately take all your suggestions into account. I'm still working on my hook sets when it comes to crankbaits. Sometimes my instincts kick in and i set it too hard. I'll also give the invisX a try. It and bass pro shops fluoro are two brands of fluoro i havent tried yet and they're both next on my list.
