  1. Looks like the owner should blend customer service from one location to the next...

  2. You're received some great advice from some very knowledgeable folks. I've had little success fishing any style jig in those conditions. So I have gone to a what is essentially a lighter version of a punching rig. You may very well need an actual punching rig (complete with 3/4 to 1 oz weight) to penetrate that mess. For me this rig is much more weedless and especially snag free. The ridge hook of an actual jig just does not come through that stuff very well. From the line to the hook here's this rig - - A stopped knot (I use a double uni-knot made from left over braided line) - A small bead to keep the knot from slipping through the weight. - A 1/2 oz tungsten weight - a Boss Punch Hub - this is placed inside the skirt collar - The skirt of your choice - A parasite clip (optional, but does help prevent the plastic from sliding down the hook) - A 5/0 Owner wide gap plus EWG hook (#5139 - very stout, I love this hook) - Your favorite soft plastic - pictured is a Power Bait Beast Hope this helps A-Jay

  5. June Bug color is good in murky water as well! Might try a Rage Rig (weighted swimbait hook) on your soft plastics like, Craws, creature baits and Big Worms as this presentation allows the bait to fall horizontal thru the grass and weeds. Doesn't grass foul as much and the fall is especially attractive to the fish when fished slow like T rig lift and fall. Keep your rod tip high with short, slow lifts and settle technique. This has been one of my favorite presentations for many years in those conditions. Concentrate on the grass edges on points and near deeper water and allow the bait to fall slowly over the outside edges when possible. Hope this helps you out a bit... Big O www.ragetail.com

  6. Apparently if your hook is red it attacts fish, and if your line is red fish can't see it.....silly silly tackle buyers.....

  9. Agreed. I have a terrarium with several species of small turtles in it and the only one that is any danger to anything else are the snappers. My son will bring home a small one about the size of a silver dolar and in a years time, we have to let it go because they actually try to eat the other turtles. I don't let him keep them for more than a few months as one of them took a bite out of a small painted turtle and killed it. They're pretty much lazy slobs when they get bigger. Saw a big one chomping on a dead carp last weekend. Big Softshell are very aggressive though. Caught this one off my dock on a big minnow. 2nd of 3 I caught the same day. Almost took a bite out of me after this picture was taken. I don't think they do any harm and they help clean up the dead stuff. If a big bass gets caught by a turtle it was probably sick or deserved it somehow. Softshells are pretty fast but I actually caught a snapper that was laying on the bank and jumped in the water when I happened by. Ran in after it and grabbed it by the tail. I aint exactly Jessie Owens. Agree with Rhino. I'd be a little suspicious if there were none present.

  10. The hurricane may only be a storm once in reaches New England but that does not diminish the chance of power being down, fallen trees, debris flying around at 60 or 70 mph, tap water being unfit for use and flooding due to heavy rain and already saturated ground. In NYC the power will be shut down in some areas even though the wires are underground, flooding may be a problem, so if you live on the 20 th floor of a building, no elevator, not bad going down but walking back up is a *****. From personal experience when Wilma hit Palm Beach County, power out for nearly a week, no traffic lights operating and debris all over the roadways. No cell phones for quite a few days and no land phone for about 3-4 weeks. No gas for our cars as most gas stations did not have generators to operate the pumps, atm's were out for a while too. Food to buy was scarce and no bottled water to be found. Given all the information that's out there only a fool wouldn't be prepared. And if not prepared and some hardship does happen, don't whine about it, you had warning. If by chance one comes out unscathed, just consider yourself fortunate. We take them serious here in Florida and the gulf states.
