  1. Wait till you lose a 3:16 swimbait second cast to a toothy critter....

  2. The lesson to be learned is to take all your necessary gear with you. Pliers/forceps/hematats should be at the top of your list. Having to return to your vehicle for instruments that can save the life of a fish increases the risk of the fish not making it. Consider the interlopers, thoughtless and rude though they may be, as the price you had to pay for your negligence of leaving your pliers behind. If you thought you were aggravated, think how the fish felt. Puts an entirely different perspective on the incident.

  3. Nope, we haven't all owned a gimmick. I've never bought any of the "as seen on tv" lures. Oh, and in before Irene rests for the eve.

  4. I respect no man who lays his hands on a child. There have been more studies shown that spanking and hitting young children cause more emotional and mental harm than other forms of punishment. Plus he "hides" something from his brothers? Big deal. But, who am I to judge your parenting style, not my kid.

  5. I don't mind the feeling of not "needing" anything from BPS or Cabelas. I've got so much tackle laying around and it seemed like everytime I'd go buy something I'd come home and be looking for something else and find that I already had what I just bought. So I decided I'm not buying anything, except maybe so line or hooks, for awhile. I've even spent some time fishing new baits that I wouldn't normally fish because I don't want to use up all my proven baits, had pretty good success doing it too.

  6. I'd say go to Lake Fork. Never been, but it's a spectacular lake.

  7. Yep, my ponds are just about dead right now with an occasional five or six. I do have one new pond that only one other person on here knows about that is a GEM and will be fished VERY little by me to keep it good. There's a very strong possiblilty of a 12-13+, no doubt. I mean just a gem. I'm fighting myself to not go. But to answer your question, yes, fishing can blow. You just need to take that time and try new baits and techniques. Or you could take my approach and use it as an excuse to buy new rods and reels.
