  1. Expensive and high initial investment are not the same thing, a few years ago I purchased my first Megabass bait: Bait X Concept Twilight Fluorescent Orange ( color ), cost ---> 24 dollars, must have caught more than a couple hundred fish with it, going back in time, many years before I purchased a couple of Heddon Cousin II cranks, must have cost me 4-5 dollars, never I´ve caught anything ( not even a cold ) with them, they´ve been for the past couple of decades just gathering dust. So what´s more "expensive" , a bait you´ve never caught anything with it or an "expensive" bait you consistently catch fish with ?

  2. I say "Go For It!" You never know what you'll create or how successful it will be unless you do it. I mean, seriously - one day Gary Yammamoto was staring at a Bic pen and decided to create a bait in that shape. He had no clue that it would have that enticing wiggle - the one fish just can't resist - until he created it and played around with the bait. So just do it and see what happens! Good luck!

  3. It does work, sometimes better than a regular spinnerbait. Getting it balanced right so it doesn't roll can be tricky though.

  4. The reason the "hate" started up so bad when he left the Cavs is the way he handled it. While in Cleveland he led the team, got his MVP awards at his old school, just doing things around in his hometown community. Then turned his back on them like he believes he was better then all of them. I don't think athletes should get a break because they are a 26 year old "kid". He is an adult and plenty old enough to handle himself properly. If you can't handle situations don't put yourself in them. He cannot expect to be paid millions of dollars, be the face of many advertisements, and the face of the league itself in some ways then not be responsible for his actions because he is a "kid". Heck, I am trying to teach my 13yr old daughter about being responsible for you own actions, but a 26yr old doesn't have to?? We can only hope that he has people around him who can get thru to him and make him realize what he is doing to his image. He is a great player and will most likely get a ring or two during his time but if all people remember are the childish behavior and I am better then everyone else attitude he won't get the credit for his skill/hard work to achieve them.

  5. Crankbaits are just another tool in the toolbox. With that being said do you want to have to break loose a rusty bolt with a bargin bin pair of dollar pliers, or an impact wrench? Not saying that cheaper baits don't get it done, they'll outfish the expensive baits sometimes, but expensive baits are built better. The vibrations they put out, the sounds they make, the finish and details on the baits, it makes a difference for sure. Get a good lure retriever and retie often and you won't loose many. Someone was saying on a different thread a few days ago how expensive is a crankbait really? Say you buy a LC Rick Clunn 1.5 for $15, a good chunk of change for one bait. You catch hundreds of fish on that one bait and have it for 15 years before you bounce it off a rock and break the bill. That bait cost you $1 a year and put tons of fish in your boat. It really works out to make "expensive" crankbaits cheaper than a bag of plastic worms if you think about it.

  7. What has me "shaking my head" about your post WhiteMike1018 is the negative, attacking tone. Saying you're not happy with the changes, the format, the ads, even the administration is obviously acceptable here. While your condescending attitude regarding those of us who don't possess your superior understanding of the interwebz, and your questioning of financial things you obviously know nothing about may not get you bounced, it will limit your credibility. I've been around a long time. I consider this site an enjoyable place to come and spend time with friends-old and new, discussing things that make me happy. If it doesn't work for you that's cool. Life is too short to swim up stream.

  9. Don't you wonder a little how bass feed in the dark, with little or no light? We don't know how bass see, lots of theories, little facts. We do know bass use all their senses to located prey and their eyes are important based on where they are located and the size. As far as color is concerned it's trail and error until you find a color or color combination the bass prefer where you fish. We all have our favorites, doesn't mean that is the best color under the prevailing conditions. Try to locate some active bass and try different colors when they are active, might surprise yourself. Use lures the bass can find easily, that displace water, give off vibrations and scent. A steady slower retrieve may be an advantage in dark water; gives the bass a chance to locate the lure. Tom PS; a live night crawler or crawdad blends into the off color water perfectly, we can't see it....the bass can in total darkness! Let the bass decide what color they like.

  10. I bought a cranking skeet reese rod early spring with the intent of returning it, until I could find something else I liked, but ive kept it ever since. Its a pretty decent rod for 90 bucks. The only thing I would kind of complain about is the lack of sensitivity, it seems to not really pick up any movement of my crankbaits in the water and/or when I smack it against stumps or rocks. Other than that its a decent rod.
