  1. Once upon a time, schools taught the three R's, readin' and 'ritin' and 'rithmetic. The social stuff, and the birds and the bees were the parent's responsibility to teach their children as they saw fit. Same for morals and ethics. Now kids can't read, write, do simple math in their heads, but they sure are indoctrinated in philosophy, beginning at very early ages. Philosophy is fine at the college level, after they have a useful, functional education to be productive in society. Schools are putting the cart before the horse. It's a sad commentary that colleges have to provide remedial classes for the basic fundamentals that should have been taught in K through twelve.

  2. First off, the ledge and drop off are structure, the trees and brush piles are cover. Clear water, no boat traffic, solid weedline, private.....sounds like paradise. Throw whatever you like to throw. You'll figure out what works and what doesn't. One hint though, jigs work everywhere, every time.

  4. The school system should really focus on English, as that is the language that most of the youth of today are unable to use properly.

  5. I prefer XPS Flouro for it's price. Though Im not a fan of the carbon gold. I'm really having a hard time keeping it on my spinning gear. I tried everything to stop it, KVD line conditoner to trolling line and reeling back in. Same wiith my Trilene as well but I as just spooled that line. That line is tangling up on me on the cast? I don' t recall to much promblems with Suffix. At least not now. I never tried any of the invisX or abrasX. But it's time to get myself another bottle of line conditioner.

  6. To have free choice you need to have an ability to choose. And I have yet to see someone have a say in what there gender is. Capt.O

  7. If anyone feels this info isn't any use to them, just don't read this thread Personally I'm curious to see how similar baits across manufacturers differ without having to buy each type. But if you have no interest, feel free to move on to the next topic

  10. The attributes of a spinnerbait is the flash and vibration it produces. I tend to go thru a process of elimination: I generally start off with a blade that would produce the most flash and if the fish are bumping it with no hook ups, then I mute it down with a less flashy painted or gold blade. Same with vibration, I start with more and mute it down. Then I switch out blade sizes and shapes until I get a combination that works. When all the combinations I go thru are exhausted, then I'll switch to a slower presentation. JMHO

  14. For me it's the dropshot but this is probably cause I don't throw it much. Spinnerbaits (if you use it right) should be easy to catch fish with. But then again, it's what you have confidence in. I keep seeing people that say they can't catch fish on a spinnerbait or a carolina rig but those are the 2 baits I always have tied on. Again, it is just what I have confidence in.

  16. For me it's the Senko. I have a ton of the stupid things, but the only thing I can catch with them is water. I'm sure there's something simple that I'm missing, but I don't really care enough to bother with them anymore. I'll just stick to other lures that actually work for me.

  17. Knowledge is key? Knowing what to do with useful knowledge is key. But what is useful? Knowing the exact weights of a 3" and 5" Senko will not put more fish in the boat. Knowing that a 5" senko falls faster than a 3" senko might put more fish in the boat. Knowing that a Trick Worm sinks very slowly, even a big one, compared to a senko might put more fish in the boat, even though a 6" Trick Worm weighs less than 5" senko. Knowing a specification doesn't make you any smarter. Knowing how that spec affects the bait is another story. Wisdom > knowledge.

  18. Think about it, guys. You're telling someone to build a rod with a blank that is most likely in the $50-$60 range at most. You're talking a St. Croix SC2 or IM6 blank. The equivalents to those would be a St. Croix Premier, for instance. You're telling someone to pay $160 to build a rod that you can otherwise buy for $110. Even Batson Rainshadows are in the $90 range for a casting rod. So, in essence, what you're suggesting he does is spend $160 on building a rod that is going to have less sensitivity and quality than he would get if he bought a new rod at the counter. Even better, he could buy one of the several used sticks that show up on a regular basis from the Flea Market. Don't get me wrong, DVT is a great guy. I'll be sending reels to him after this season for some mechanic love. Yet, the advice you're giving the guy, in all honesty, is terrible. You are thinking of the cost alone, you're not thinking of the quality.

  19. Uhhhh i dont think KVD has to worry about putting food on his familys table? lol.And he doesn't make all his money from sponsors buddy. That 4 million plus cha-ching is from winning and succeeding in tournaments.Itd be hard for him to do that with equipment that he didn't trust and couldn't rely on.Yes some people will go to sponsors for money, but not to the extent they are going to jeopardize their career. And its not like he's the only one with quantum. Theyre are a lot of other well known pros that have quantum. He could have any sponsor he wants and im sure there are other ones willing to pay more. Quantum is a very good brand,i love their reels and im not the only one i can tell you that

  21. So...if gas is a necessity, I assume that every human that lived before the 1800's all died because they didn't have gasoline to put in their Fords. Give me a break. Our current system of living is so reliant on gasoline that our society THINKS it's a necessity, which makes people think they have a right to start condemning a successful company. In reality, it's a luxury. In reality, our dependence on oil is somewhat depressing. (Hey guys, it will eventually run out. Then what are we going to do?) Someone answer me this: Can you go build an offshore drilling rig, dig down 35,000 ft (crazy..that's how deep DH was), ship it to shore, refine it (and have the chemistry knowledge of how to do this), store it, ship it again, etc? And if you can, you would be able to supply the market with perhaps the most valuable (sans food and water) and most demanded resource available right now. But I doubt anyone here can...so you'll continue to argue and bash Oil companies for just doing their job instead of actually doing something to fix the problem. I hate high prices just as much as the next guy. I'm taking a trip overseas tomorrow, and I'd say 90% of my expenses is the airline ticket (blame high petro prices there too). It's expensive, and it sucks. But it is what it is. Everyone should be upset. But analyze the situation. Looks at the system, the causes and effects. Not just how it affects you. If gas prices are really bothering you that much, move to Venezuela.
