  1. OK, I'll say it...just because you have chest waders doesn't mean you should be chest deep. You're asking for trouble. Not gonna say I haven't been "chest deep" to get to a spot, but anything over you waist in chest waders isn't safe at all. Take it from me, I've filled my waders after slipping twice, and even with a wading belt, it isn't easy to get out of the water.

  2. In my opinion, "that guy" is that guy because he/she fishes for quality bites from cast number 1. The catch 5 mentality doesn't exist in these anglers minds. This allows the angler to slow down and fish with patience. The slower, more precise presentations turn into quality bites. If you ask the top finishers of a tournament, most of them will say they got less than 10 bites all day.

  3. check this out. that fish was landed on a spinning rod. The idea that "only" a baitcaster has enough power to land a bass is ludicrous. If you hitched a 10lb cobia to a 10lb bass, where would they go? Answer: anywhere the cob wanted to go. Olebiker, the setup you proposed will do the job, no problem.

  4. I understand being young and not thinking of the future. You are willing to risk your future health for one tournament. You need to focus on the bigger picture. You are asking for a way to stabilize your hand so you can fish more comfortably. Your body is trying to tell you something with that pain. If you fish and cause yourself further damage then you will have no one else to blame but yourself. You need to listen to the doctor, put the cast on, let it heal and be back to full health. I promise you that the fish will still be there and you will be able to catch them later. Simply the risk of further injuring yourself is not worth it.

  5. I just bought this and it is really nice. My grandson has a small lake in his housing area and I bought it for him so he will not have to lay his rods on the ground. He likes to carry two baitcasters and two spinning rods with him. We checked out the BPS version and it is greatly inferior to this one.

  6. I don't think you'll find rods as light, sensitive, and durable as the St Croix LT's anywhere, and you rarely see top-of-the-line rods from St Croix or Loomis discounted that much. But if you didn't like the rod from just swishing it around in the shop and prefer another brand, there's no sense in buying it. Leave it for someone who will appreciate it more than you did. There are plenty who will.

  7. It would generally be the other way around, the spinnerbait/ chatterbait is considered a search bait, you can cover water and look for active fish, once you find them slow down in the area with the senko and work it a little more thoroughly, you might also want to add jigs and larger texas rigged plastics like beavers and such, they generally draw bigger bites than a senko type bait (for me anyway)

  8. My suggestion would be to start with a decent rod or two. Don't spend a ton of money to get the best. The reason is simple. There is no guarantee that fishing will be your cup of tea. Fishing is really no different than any other hobby. Folks think they'd like to do something, start out, and then lose interest. For others, a hobby becomes an obsession. SirSnookalot's advice about starting out at a local tackle shop is on the money. They will know what works for the various species, and what works at different stages of the season. The beauty of fishing is that each of us can do it our own way. We can go "by the book", or think outside the box like mad scientists. Each can approach it as seriously or casually as they want. Good luck, and have fun.

  9. Gimick bait in the beginning, catches a few nowadays but there are much better baits out there to spend your money on.

  10. This one might work for you: Rod case The smaller size holds 4 combos, so you've got room for expansion. Tom

  11. If you like it, go with it. Many people don't like them but some people love them. I happen to really like my mojo rods and have several of them. Just because it didn't work for someone else doesn't mean you won't like fishing with it.

  13. Going off of what you asked, braid. If you're taking nylon mono and fluoro into consideration, if you ask 10 different people you're going to get 10 difference answers.

  15. Well he didn't catch it I did on a buzz bait he's only gonna be 2 on may 21st but he wanted to help. He was alittle scared of it. The first one was bigger he didn't mind that one other then going ewwwwwwww after poking it. The 2nd one he was terrified of because once it was on the bank it started freaking out flipping out that's why in the one pic he's yelling at it to go "down" his word for everything he doesn't like.
