  1. A Flyers fan graciously accepts defeat and wishes you luck. A Habs fan is 1 series removed and still needs one of these:

  2. With a needle-point hook (conical point), the pressure builds during penetration because the point is actually compressing tissue as the diameter increases. In contrast, with a knife-edge hook (cut-edge point) the pressure falls off during penetration, because in theory at least, the tissue is sliced rather than compressed. Consequently I believe your theory is valid because it is conceivable that a knife-edge point might promote "keyholing", which is what we're talking about. Of course, this doesn't diminish more important causes of a thrown hook such as line tension, drag tension, barb height and wire diameter (thin wire keyholes more easily than heavy wire). Roger

  3. My largemouth PB is 7 lbs 5 oz on a Booyah Spinnerbait. There are no smallmouth that I am aware of in Northwest Missouri and when I have fished lakes with smallmouth in southern Missouri I haven't caught anything that I believe weighed more than 2.5 lbs. Come on, Chris, give us your awesome PB!!! I would like to see Paul's too. And let's not forget Randall and Senko77. They have caught some hawgs too. Kent needs to regurgitate his story about those huge smallmouths in his avatar as well. Great story!! I think I left out Mattlures and WRB also. We have some guys on here who have nailed some huge fish!

  4. I would suggest you look at the Lamiglas Excel 705G glass cranking rod. I and several others have used this model for well over a year and like it alot. If you want to see one in action, go to Youtube videos and type in Columbia River Smallmouths and watch the rods used, Excels. That should give you an idea of the flex and power characteristics. Good luck !

  6. Ahh well...Props to the Bruins. They were clearly the better team throughout the series. You guys have a hell of a goalie in Thomas. Best of luck, we'll be back next year.

  10. I'm seeing accusations flying, name calling, and general dissent. All of these end the same. Keep it civil on the boards, please.

  11. No, it sinks. You forgot to add the weight of the vessel. Fill a millk jug with lake water. Drop in lake. Observe. All they're saying is use the jugs to weigh down a cover. Assuming they are in the water is probably wrong anyway. I see it quite a bit up here. Must work. Not sure if it would on the moon - I don't think there's water up there.

  13. There's a WHOLE lot more to this site than just the forums. All the software, dedicated servers, cluster environments, etc. add up quickly, not to mention a slew of expenses unrelated to hardware/software (like paying developers, designers, and freelance writers). There's also a HUGE difference between moderating a forum or two, and owning/operating a site. I'm not going to dive into all the financial details because, quite frankly, I don't owe that to anyone. But suffice to say, until you own and operate a site with the kind of traffic and complexities BassResource.com has, you're not in a position to challenge it.

  15. Weedguards help keep the jig pinned in the fish's face. They work better for wood and rocks than weeds. For that, the skirt and head shape are more crucial.

  18. Dear clueless: It costs several thousand dollars a month to run this site. Domain registration fees are but one small, minor snippet of the total expenses. Armchair quarterbacks. Gotta luv 'em!

  20. Apparently, it was Navy Seal Team 6, from right here in southeast Virginia, the sent Bin Laden home to be judged. God bless 'em. I've met some of these guys and I will say they are some of the most unassuming gentlemen you will ever meet. Their quiet, reserved nature is almost disconcerting. Some of America's most treasured warriors. And we'll never know the names of those warriors that did the job for us. But we love every one of them.

  21. I'm with OHIO on this one why are you here? The swap hasn't gone bad at all the box is on track and everything seems to be accounted for. Ok so maybe the contents weren't as nice as we had hoped at the end but we can't blame anyone for that because we all added to it. Besides I want to see the finale tally to make a judgment on the contents of that box. For myself I'd do it again, and I think hookingem and the the rest of the guys who participated did a D*** fine pass. So Wolf if you don't mind go find some other thread to be Dr.Doom-and-gloom on and leave this one alone. I got Montes last two chatter baits, thats why the yellow/black LC is reserved for hookingem. 22. At first i wasn't gonna comment on any of the goings on about this , just follow it to its conclusion, but after it has eatin at me over the weekend i gotta say my piece. First it was great to participate in, i had a great time doin it and would do again. I caught the biggest bass i have ever caught at my home lake on one of the lures i got from the swap(thanks fishin hard it was the chartreuse and black H2O). Based on the thread here's what should be going to hookinem.... 3 packs of Trokar hooks, zoom plastics(that hookinem origanally put in),bomber long A, natrual IKE, 1 pack YUM money minnow,SK sexy shad swim jig, Rage Chunk, soft plastic spiders, H2O jerkbait, storm split tail minnow, 1 revolution shad, storm swim shad, 1 MonteSS chatterbait black/blue, Sk 6xd,senkos,LC red craw, LC black yellow, sebile, zoom fluke, rage craws,lc pointer, lipless cranks(type unknown), chigger craws, plastic worms(type unknown), zara spook, and gamakatsu hooks. Now Luke, if you're wondering why you are being questioned, its because you have conflicting statements in your post , You don't need to follow the thread to post takes and picks. It was supposed to be part of the courtesy extended to the 10 people associated with this swap. You are the only one that failed to do so. Also you stated that there were a lot of plastics ,but you took out 2 hard baits and put in....PLASTICS?? How can you complain about to many plastics and then contribute to the number that was in there. And yes i know you put some lipless cranks in there too. This is a "lure "swap and plastics last i recall were fishing lures. This was not in your original post, how come you didn't mention it before? And i thought you had enough plastics? So from my estimation you took a $20 pop max bait, $10 Storm magic swimmer(im guessing on this one) and a $5 bag of culprit worms. Then you put in $3 havoc baits, Plastic worms(guessing $5?) so to be fair the lipless cranks should be worth at least $22. After all we did state before hand that , respectfully , people should put in dollar wise as much as they took out. If that's the case then good for you , but your lack of information and conflicting statements leads us to believe otherwise. This lure swap was not about trading up. Its about getting lures you wouldn't normally get or be able to get and trying new things. If you came into this swap with the intention of profiting off trading lures, then you had the wrong mindset to begin with. Last but not least, anyone not associated with this swap is entitled to there opinion, but negative comments will only lead to more negative comments and that's not what this thread was supposed to be about.

  25. OK so i havent been active on this site very much in the past few years. But time to time ill stop by and check the forums out to see whats going on, and I can honestly say, everytime this site gets updated it frustrates me. 2006 bassresource layout > this new one...these ads are pretty ridiculous, and im sorry for all you anglers out there who arent very computer saavy but this site dosent NEED ADDS TO BE FUNCTIONAL, its a bad joke. The domain probably cost about 100-300 dollars a year at minimum, and I have been an admin on multiple forums. It dosent cost money to add text and news posts. Just saying the site used to be a lot nicer and easier to navigate, now it just looks ugly I mean for gods sake, the demensions on the avtar dont even look right.. rant over
