  5. The person per se is not important, as for now it doesn´t matter he´s dead; the mentality, the school of thought, the infrastructure he helped to create is still very much alive and kicking.

  6. At first i wasn't gonna comment on any of the goings on about this , just follow it to its conclusion, but after it has eatin at me over the weekend i gotta say my piece. First it was great to participate in, i had a great time doin it and would do again. I caught the biggest bass i have ever caught at my home lake on one of the lures i got from the swap(thanks fishin hard it was the chartreuse and black H2O). Based on the thread here's what should be going to hookinem.... 3 packs of Trokar hooks, zoom plastics(that hookinem origanally put in),bomber long A, natrual IKE, 1 pack YUM money minnow,SK sexy shad swim jig, Rage Chunk, soft plastic spiders, H2O jerkbait, storm split tail minnow, 1 revolution shad, storm swim shad, 1 MonteSS chatterbait black/blue, Sk 6xd,senkos,LC red craw, LC black yellow, sebile, zoom fluke, rage craws,lc pointer, lipless cranks(type unknown), chigger craws, plastic worms(type unknown), zara spook, and gamakatsu hooks. Now Luke, if you're wondering why you are being questioned, its because you have conflicting statements in your post , You don't need to follow the thread to post takes and picks. It was supposed to be part of the courtesy extended to the 10 people associated with this swap. You are the only one that failed to do so. Also you stated that there were a lot of plastics ,but you took out 2 hard baits and put in....PLASTICS?? How can you complain about to many plastics and then contribute to the number that was in there. And yes i know you put some lipless cranks in there too. This is a "lure "swap and plastics last i recall were fishing lures. This was not in your original post, how come you didn't mention it before? And i thought you had enough plastics? So from my estimation you took a $20 pop max bait, $10 Storm magic swimmer(im guessing on this one) and a $5 bag of culprit worms. Then you put in $3 havoc baits, Plastic worms(guessing $5?) so to be fair the lipless cranks should be worth at least $22. After all we did state before hand that , respectfully , people should put in dollar wise as much as they took out. If that's the case then good for you , but your lack of information and conflicting statements leads us to believe otherwise. This lure swap was not about trading up. Its about getting lures you wouldn't normally get or be able to get and trying new things. If you came into this swap with the intention of profiting off trading lures, then you had the wrong mindset to begin with. Last but not least, anyone not associated with this swap is entitled to there opinion, but negative comments will only lead to more negative comments and that's not what this thread was supposed to be about.

  8. Squeeze the gap shut with a heavy pliers, I do this all time with my 12/0 limerick hooks, problem solved in a matter of seconds, if in fact the gap is your problem. I don't use anything heavier than 20# braid and that has solved it for me.

  12. There are so many variables - it depends on the lake, the season, the forage, etc. But if I had to try to pull a kicker from the lakes I usually fish, I would be throwing a jig on submerged brush piles. It seems like the good ol bigguns (or big ol goodens) alwyas seem to hang around the brush piles, especially in the middle part of the day when most tournaments are wrapping up.

  14. I just haven't seen the 'doldrums' so many talk about. I find LMs pretty willing feeders after the spawn -they're hungry. My guess is the mains issues are our own expectations following the ease of spawn fishing, and the various stages bass populations are in following, making it tough to put together a pattern: Some males are guarding fry, others have moved out, while some small males are still trying to entice females. Some females are still hanging around bedding areas, others are hunting in the shallows, others are en route to summer quarters. Males remain aggressive for quite some time and Ralph Manns has wondered if females actively avoid them, once done with the game. In general, females are tired but hungry. It seems they are more particular about what they consider a "catchable" target. I've done best with tubes and jigs fished on a slow swim, and falls. Jigworms and Wacky'd worms too, again fished slow. Post-spawn female that was hanging around a guarding male that wouldn't let her near. Sight fishing can tell you a lot about what's going on -why we don't catch them all. It isn't easy to make artificial food look real, and catchable. She would not chase so I had to drop and swim the tube just ahead of her. Too far ahead and no go. Too much vegetation to "kill" the bait, the swim too fast for her to commit. She took a plastic craw but I missed and then she avoided it. I finally got her with a perfectly timed fall and swim. Now I could see her. Imagine doing this blind, just working a shoreline! So early in post-spawn I strain spawning banks by slow swimming tubes and jigs. It does work. One pattern that sets up here that is consistently good is bass targeting spawning bluegills. A colony of 'gills always has a group of bass hanging around -whether you can see them or not. Look for bigger 'gills and there WILL be bigger females hanging close, looking for an in. I've seen this with smallies too, but they are more aggressive about targets, bolting into the colonies and raising havoc. Pretty cool to see. I sneak in and alternate a tube and jig, casting low with quiet entry, trying to extract as many bass as I can before I put them down. Great fun. You can see two bass in this image, cruising just outside the colony, but there were about 6 more there too. The bigger female LM's cruise less, often holding close beneath or next to a piece of cover. They are stingy with their energy. Also, I look for bluegills feeding. About postspawn is when the damselflies begin to emerge in newly developing weed beds. Bluegills really get on them and the bass get on those preoccupied 'gills. I know the 'gills are on the damsels bc I can hear them feeding, making those kissing, smacking sounds in the vegetation. If you watch you'll see larger wakes, boils, and surges. Swim a weedless jig, T-rigged creature, SB, or fish a Spook at the edges. Hmmmm...I guess that's what comes off the top of my head for post-spawn here. Hope it helps.

  15. Some golf courses do not mind if you fish on their closed days, which are usually Mnodays. Otherwise, I suggest asking for permission before tresspassing on private property. And when you do fish please be thoughtful and a good steward regarding trash left behind. Take all cut fishing line with you and never leave any trash behind. Plus, THROW THE FISH BACK. If a golf course grounds person or bum comes up to you and asks for that beautiful six pound lady loaded with eggs don't give it to him. THROW IT BACK.

  16. My pet peeves mostly deal with getting to the lake!! I hate when you wait for someone so that you can pull out onto the street. Then they end up turning onto the same street I'm on, but didn't put their directional on. So I just waited for this jack**** and he ends up turning!!! Also when someone pulls out in front of you to the point where you have to slam on the brakes---then turns at the next block--you look in the rear view and there wasn't a car in sight and you wonder why he's in such a hurry that he couldn't wait for me to go by. When people don't move over on the highway to let you come off the on-ramp. When people in the passing lane go the same speed as the people in the "slow" lane. My final two peeves---Stupidity and lack of courtesy.
