  1. The swap hasn't gone bad and it sure as hell went better than the last one. Also, why are you even posting in here? You didn't participate in it, so it really has nothing to do with you. You aren't contributing by saying the swap went bad. JMO.

  2. The $1.00 Walmart Chartreuse spinnerbait catches more fish for me then any other crankbait or spinnerbait.

  3. Regarding the premise of the original post, the fisherman was already there and fishing. Is the time and effort the boater took to pilot his boat to the same area worth more than the bank fisherman? I say, like in basketball, the bank fisherman had position and the boater is guilty of " charging", bank fisherman gets 2 free casts with a 3 oz. pyramid sinker......lol j/k. The boater is mobile , can go anywhere and should have showed some consideration.

  4. Back to the original premise of this thread, try to look at it from a different perspective. You're the boater. You don't know that someone has walked a quarter mile to reach this creek inlet. All you know is that you've taken the time to run up a creek to fish in inlet, you get there and then there is someone fishing on the bank. I don't know about you but if I've invested the time to run up a creek, and as we all know running up creeks can be tricky and time consuming, once I've got there I'm probably going to get a lure wet. As far as smacking into stumps and muddying up the water goes, that is just stuff that happens once you've run a long ways up a creek. In the situation described in the original premise, I don't think the guy was being that rude. Is it the job of every boater to know which creek inlets have bank access and which don't? I don't know? From what I read into this situation it sounds to me like one of those unfortunate things that happen during fishing from time to time, and can't we please all get along?

  5. Hot water will not take line twist, it will make your line limper and manage better. You need to troll the twist, behind a boat, or a running stream, hooking 1 end to a fence and reeling back while holding the line tight between your fingers, some do it by walking it thru the grass, I never tried that. I do see lots of twist in the photo. Once you have no twist try a good quality swivel and leader, that may help for the future. The difference in drag setting between 8 and 6# test is very slight. Hand closing the bail is a good idea just from a wear and tear standpoint and prevent the line to loop before reeling, it has nothing to with line twist, the twist is caused by reeling and a bait like a fluke or spoon spinning around, normal on spinning gear.

  6. It's not overspooled at all, I'd say you could use more line if anything but that's a different thing completely. Do you close the bail by hand or turn the reel handle to close it? If you turn the reel handle that will cause a tiny about of twist everytime you close the bail, eventually a big ball of line is going to jump off your reel on the cast. Always close the bail by hand, once you get used to doing it you won't even have to think about it. What brand/type line are you using? Using a good quality, soft line will help line twists a lot. What baits do you usually use? Some baits cause line twists that adding a small ball bearing swivel about 18" above your bait will fix.

  14. At night, often bigger, more noise and vibration from your bait is good even with the slowest presentations like worms, jigs etc. A jig with a rattle can help as well. Top buzzers are good in some conditions for spawners cruising shallow over nest areas. Big O www.ragetail.com

  21. If done nicely and politely, i don't mind a guy coming close enough for me to leap into his boat. As long as he knows what he's doing, acknowledges me and makes sure it's ok, and works to stay out of where i'm casting. I love to talk to the other fisherman. The only problem with this is that the nice, considerate guys hardly ever come close in the first place.

  24. When tying your knots please be cognizant about "burning" the line. If you see any "waves" in the line by your bait, cut it out and start all over again. Also, run your thumb fingernail along the line. If you feel any cuts, nicks, abraisions or waves, cut it out and start over. Avoiding burning your line when tieing any type of know with any type of line, excepting braid, is critical to your success. Also, do not point your rod tip at the fish when fighting it. Keep rod tip up, down or to the right or left. If you point your rod tip at the fish there is a lot of pressure on the knot and the knot can fail. A Palamor knot is a great knot to use if you are careful when tying it.

  25. This was posted today at another site from a product manager for Strike King lure company. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/6110393/all/Fake_KVD_1_5_s "Folks, I am the product manager for Strike King lure company, and want to address everyone's concerns regarding the KVD squarebills. 1st, I assure you that other than a few "secret colors" KVD always uses off the shelf merchandise just like you and I!!! He is very adamant about all of his signature baits being of the highest quality, and will not endorse a product if it is not....Regarding the red gill plate on the color 535...It was originally spec'd out with the red gill plate, however, the first batch that we got in did not have the red gill plate, and that was the bait he was using in the Classic (because that was all he had). All, of the later production has had the red gill plate, which KVD actually prefers. Regsrding 1st batch, 2nd batch etc etc China vs Costa Rica etc etc....Please see the following: The majority of our hardbait production has come from our Costa Rican facility for the last several years. We switched to that location trying to increase the consisitency and the quality of our hardbaits, and we are very pleased with the results. Now specifically regarding the KVD squarebills: we actually developed both a Chinese manufacturing operation along with our Costa Rican operation. This allowed us to to have ample manufacturing capabilities and to be able to somewhat keep up with the demand. Yes there are some very very subtle differences to the eye, but there are no differences in the quality, how they run, or the fish catching abilities between the baits. All the baits feature the same quality components, from eyes to hooks to hand tuning. I would challenge any of you to find a KVD bait that doesn't run well assuming you haven't cracked it on your trolling motor!!!!! Regarding the Chinese made baits. These baits are held to the same high standards that we require from our Costa Rica Plant, and in fact, they have even surpassed those expectations in many cases. Also, just so there is no grey area here..IT IS NOT CHEAPER FOR US TO MANUFACTURE OUR PRODUCTS IN CHINA....It is simply another avenue for quality production. And as always, if you are not happy with a Strike King Product. Please call customer service and let us know. We always have and always will take care of you, because we are fisherman too!!!"

  27. I got the box last week. It got shipped off to sloanezp yesterday. I didn't inventory takes or picks, because I haven't been following the thread. I only took two lures though, and replaced with some havoc baits, couple lipless cranks, and some plastic worms. Kind of disappointed at the selection I got (it was mostly plastics, and I don't need any more). I thought it was a "lure" swap.
