wickyman Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 How many times have you lost a hat on a high speed run to your next, "honey hole"? I can tell you that I have lost my hat in the past. I have created a new device that keeps your hat, connected to your shirt, at all times! I am just curious if there is a necessity for it, other than my own personal use? It connects to your shirt collar, pocket, wherever, and keeps your hat from flying off. And no, it doesn't have alligator clips, but it does have clips, which are less damaging to materials on your hat, or shirt, with the same, if not better holding power. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted October 23, 2009 Super User Posted October 23, 2009 I turn it around in lockdown mode, or in really fast boats, take it off, and sit on it. Quote
bigbaitfisher Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 If it's light weight and non-obtrusive, I'd be interested just for safety reasons....I HATE losing hats on the water, and every year I seem to lose more than a few. I wasn't a fan of the alligator clip version. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted October 24, 2009 Super User Posted October 24, 2009 I install a tie down on my fishing hats similar to the outback hats. I put a grommet on each side of the bill at the sweat band, then put a shoe string thru each grommet, and then tie those together with a spring loaded adjuster. I holds my hat on when I am a passenger in a single console boat at 75mph. Quote
Super User Catt Posted October 24, 2009 Super User Posted October 24, 2009 Someone makes one that clips to the back of the hat & then clips to your shirt collar Quote

Are you trying to find out if there is a market for your invention ? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 24, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 24, 2009 I put my hat on the throttle. You know, that hole in the back of the hat? Slides right over the throttle. It's out of the wind and holds the hat there just fine. However, my passenger has lost a hat or two, so now I carry a spare with me all the time. Even if you get the hat back, it's soaking wet, so the spare is a welcome sight. Quote
wickyman Posted October 24, 2009 Author Posted October 24, 2009 Lots of great replies. I really like the hat with the shoe strings. It's pretty interesting. I was just curious if there was a market for it and from what it seems, everyone has their own way of keeping their hats on their heads, dry, or somewhere else... I just figured I could improve some people's life, by trying to market it. Not globally, but to the good members of these forums. I'm into giving back to the forums here, so I was going to make it a cheap, and slightly safer alternative to the alligator clips. I know it's nothing to look at seriously, but I know how mad I get when I lose my lucky hat, and have to go back to get it. It's annoying, and nothing more, than a huge Pain in the butt! Seriously though, if You are interested in this, shoot me a PM, and we can talk about it a little more. Thanks for all the comments, they are all taken constructively! I appreciate it greatly! Quote
Deputy Dave Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Ive got a better idea....if your in a boat that goes fast enough to blow your hat off while your moving, remove said hat from attached head and re-install when you stop. I figured that technique out when I was very young... Quote
D.Cox Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 Lost 2 today! My buddy lost his, we turned and looked in 2 foot waves, must went under and when we got to our next stop. Mine was gone. I was setting on it. I can deal with the loss of the hat, but not my Costal Del Mar sun glasses. Have donated at pairs few! But we had fun and caught fish! Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 25, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 25, 2009 Wayne - what... is that creature hiding beneath your glass table in the picture??! An albino deer? And is that a skunk on top of the table?? Quote
frogtog Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I'm telling you, y'all don't miss nothing. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted October 25, 2009 Super User Posted October 25, 2009 Glenn, yes the glass case has an albino deer in it. The "skunk" is just a toy replica of a cat. Quote
Tucson Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I picked up a couple of clips called Stafford Change-able from a cloth store. Tied one end of a short cord to my hat, the other end to one of these clips and just clip it on my shirt collar. Quote
wickyman Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 That's kind of the same idea, but both clips are more removable, at a given time... It just make's it easier... I don't know, if you guys think it's a bad idea, then it's cool too. I will just use it for personal use. Was just looking at a way to make some fishing money, and to help some people out, with the same issue I have had. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted October 25, 2009 Super User Posted October 25, 2009 Not a bad idea just not a high priority , that's all. Quote
Dr Pigg Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 If I wore a baseball cap with a drawsting chin strap attached into the local watering hole after a day on the lake---there would be a "hate crime" and I asked for it!! ;D Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted October 25, 2009 Super User Posted October 25, 2009 Dr. Pigg, fortunately I don't go to the type of watering holes that you do. I just go to ones that are frequented by hunters and fishermen. They appreciate any innovation that makes their outdoor experience more enjoyable. ;D Quote
