Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 16, 2012 Global Moderator Posted March 16, 2012 Nice, I didn't know you could make a jig mold with silicone. If you don't mind telling how you made that I'm sure several guys on here would like to hear it, myself included. If you don't want to tell how you do it I'm sure several guys on here would understand, myself included Quote

If you don't want to tell how you do it I'm sure several guys on here would understand, myself included I dont mind. To make a two part silicone mold is easy once you get the supplies and work out the kinks. I used some Rhodorosil v340 from Sunbelt Materials. First you have to get your master completely ready (no weed guard in and drilled out to fit a base hole pin, strip all paint, etc) then sink it half way into modeling clay. Make a mold box around it, measure and mix silicone, then pour the first half. 24 hours later, demold clean up any things you dont want in the mold. Flip the mold over, place jig back into previously poured mold, lube and repour like you did the day before. Wait 24 hours and demold, cut a pour point and begin pouring. It is not too difficult, but the silicone can be expensive if you only want to make one or two molds. I cant fish NEAR as much as I want to so I build lures in the mean time. I wasted ALOT of silicone trying to get things right, but now I have got it down and feel that the results were good enough to post. ( I'm a bit of a perfectionist) PM me with any questions or anything, I have made some for a few guys I know Quote
carrollton-fisher Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I have 2 questions. 1) what in the world is that on the hook in picture 3? It looks like some type of insect as a trailer? 2) where did you get your round rubber and what size? I tie my own and have been suing the flat rubber but want the round rubber. Thanks Quote

That is an Uncle Josh Meat Craw- Just like reg pork, but without the skin- great in cold water 2. I get it from Lurepartsonline.com you can get it in 1lb rolls or 5 ft strips (for both the reg and heavy round rubber) Quote
the crab Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 What do you like to build your mold boxes with? Nice work. I've made some molds similarly with bondo. Both the fiberglass resin and the regular automotive. Quote
