You will need to set up a business and all the tax id's and licenses that go along with it. From the Fed to some cities depending on where you live and what is required. This also depends on who and where you sell.

Whenever starting any business there are two people that you should have lined up: a lawyer and an accountant.

My boyfriend said its a law that you have to have a permit/liciense to sell fishing tackle at a store or at home?

Is that true

The short answer is depends on how involved the business is. If for example a gas station sells some basic hooks, spoons and misc terminal tackle along side the potato chips, most likely no permit or license would be required, however if they sold live shiners the answer would most likely be yes, that said regulations may vary from state to state, county to county and city to city. A check with your city, county and state should be on your to do list.

She's talking about selling them from a their home via internet and what have you. Least that was my understanding of it. They aren't refering to mass producing them as of yet. I thought you didn't have to have a business and all it intails until you started making a certain amount of money off it.

She needs to visit the local chamber of commerce. They'll get her pointed in the right direction.
