msolorio Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 you guys think jb weld would be good for securing a weedguard? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 7, 2012 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 7, 2012 I would not do it. It's not flexible, so it could break eventually. I would use a waterproof adhesive/sealant such as Sikaflex 292. That stuff will bond just about anything and will hold indefinitely. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 No it will not work well. Use a 2 part epoxy. Devcon is a good one, both Lowes and walmart both have it. Quote
backwater4 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 You could also use loctite super glue gel, works real well. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 8, 2012 Super User Posted March 8, 2012 Superglue gel is all I use. Quote
cadman Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Loc-Tite super glue gel and D2T(Devcon 2 Ton 30 minute) Quote
tholmes Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Loc-Tite super glue gel and D2T(Devcon 2 Ton 30 minute) I have used both of these and they both work well. I prefer the Loctite super glue gel just because it sets up faster. Tom Quote
msolorio Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 thanks everybody for youe responses. i found some 2 part epoxy in the garage and used it. worked great but ill probably end up gettin the loctite gel, seems faster and i probably wouldnt waste as much lol Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted March 8, 2012 Super User Posted March 8, 2012 thanks everybody for youe responses. i found some 2 part epoxy in the garage and used it. worked great but ill probably end up gettin the loctite gel, seems faster and i probably wouldnt waste as much lol You're better off with the loctite but the Devcon 2 Ton epoxy is great and it is what I use on all my jigs that are going to get a coat of epoxy on anyway. If I'm making a jig that isn't getting the epoxy coat I'll use the gel, and remember not to use normal super glue, the reason is it wicks up the fibers of the weedguard and it dries to a white film that requires extra time to get off if you can get it off. msolorio Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 thank you for the info smalljaw. i think skinny bear uses superglue cus man, ive bought some of their jigs and had that white film on the weedguard as well as some of the skirt. Quote
backwater4 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Super glue gel shouldn't leave a film. I think if you use regular super glue it's makes it's way up the weedguard a little. Quote
