Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 1, 2012 Super User Posted March 1, 2012 First off the handles are not as long as the pics make them look. One is a 7' MLF spinning with Blue Concept guide system One is a 7'2'' MHM crankbait with micros Both have Eucalyptus Burl handles. http://smg.photobuck...curt54321/Rods/ Quote
Super User .RM. Posted March 1, 2012 Super User Posted March 1, 2012 Really nice work! What is the make of the blanks, and guides? The Eucalyptus Burl, is really nice looking. Looks somewhat like the Laguna Burl I used with a burnt burl for contrasting accents.... Tight Lines! Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 2, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 2, 2012 One blank is a MHX and the other is an American Takle Viper (Blue). The guides are also American Takle. The Eucalyptus is not cork but a solid chunk of wood I turned on the lathe. I love the feel of wood, Some day I'll learn to turn the handle knobs. The Carbonlite will not stay on that rod I have a 200E5 with Boca's & carbon drag but the Carbonlite looks great in the pics. The other reel is a Quantum. Any idea how hard it is to find a decent Blue spinning reel? Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Nice grips. I like the minimal grip on the spinning reel. Long grips serve no real purpose. Quote
Jason Penn Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 looks great!!! which mhx blank is that? composite? Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 2, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 2, 2012 Thanks guys! The blank is a MHX X-COMPOSITE CRANKBAIT It is a MH but has a really soft feel? Quote
Diablos Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Really nice handles!! I just built a MHX composite last week for cranking too. It hasn't even been coated yet. One thing I have to learn is how to take better pics of rods. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 2, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 2, 2012 That's nice! What blank is that? It's a way smaller diameter than mine? Is that a power wrapper? Quote

Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 2, 2012 Author Super User Posted March 2, 2012 No I got my stuff online but I'll check into that place. Do they sell blanks...? I'm actually about 45 minutes south of the metro but if you tell people your from Osawatomie they have no clue ware that is. Quote
Diablos Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 That's nice! What blank is that? It's a way smaller diameter than mine? Is that a power wrapper? The blank is a MHX 905 blend, not the composite. I made the power wrapper. It was cheaper than buying a pre-built one. Basically it's a 1x8x8' piece of any good straight wood with 3/4" C-channel tracking so the rollers could slide. Then I mounted a motor on some angle iron and attached an aluminum adapter with set screws to a chuck I purchased 3 acrylic ball bearing roller stands. Quote
