Yes that is for sure!

I really liked the part when Gary said he was a fraud and how it was his wife building his original rods. LOL

Thank you !!! I love how excited he starts to get talking about how rods are made and he knows he is getting excited and he sort of takes aa second and gathers his emotion back, you can tell he loves fishing and that is the reason his rods were so good.

Great video. He sure doesn't think much of an Ugly Stik. LOL. For those who don't want to watch the whole thing to find what he says about that, it's at the 25 minute mark in the video. He doesn't say "Ugly Stik" but he definitely eludes to it. But trust me, the whole video is worth watching.

Thanks everyone it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for sure. We actually spent several hours together over the next three days. The others with me said I had a "man crush" on him. The highlight was when he stopped by as the show was closing one night with a big bag of jerky and offered me some and spent time talking with all of us. Seemed like a pretty cool guy!

That was great.

Thanks for putting that together for us anglers.

Gary is "the real deal" in my personal opinion.

I had the awesome priveledge of talking nearly two hours with him, one on one. at a trade expo in NY during the winter time manyyears ago. GLoomis had just come out with the first GLoomis frog rod back then, the green stick . Gary was working the booth, or just being Gary, and he saw me handing the Frog Rod in the GLoomis booth there.

He did not know me,, and trust me, I am not well known, but he approached me and asked ..."Do you frog fish much?"

To his suprise, I reached into my coat pocket and yanked out a "Wild Bull" frog made by Snag Proof, and I said..."Well, this color of thier frogs are named after me". ...

Well, I NOW had HIS attention.!!!

He wanted to hear what I thought about the rod..etc...

He is a bit older than me, but not by a lot, and we chatted about a lot., his rods, bass fishing , etc,,and even about how his family had no interests in running his namesake business, so sadly he was selling it .

A true gentleman !!

Thanks for posting - great video!

What was interesting to me was Gary's opinion on what a rod warranty should be - one year and if you want, optional "insurance" for an additional fee. He was not in favor of the unconditional replacement warranty like that for the current Loomis rods. We had a recent thread on rod warrantys and I think Gary's opinion ties in well with what was discussed in that thread.

Goose I also found his remarks on warranties interesting. I completely agree with him for what that's worth. :Idontknow:

Great video. He sure can captivate a room. I had the opportunity to have dinner with him the last two years at the ICRBE.

Here's a pic from last Saturday.
