Weightless Senko Spinning Rod...suggestions?

I want one rod for weightless stickbaits ( wacky rigged or texposed ). It needs to be versatile enough to skip under docks or cast far in clear water conditions.

I have been using 6'6 MHF but maybe I should be changing rod length or action...

I really like my cus-68m Cumara for shaky head and I'm a fan of my st CROIX tournament casting rods- their wacky style (TBS68XMF) seems like a good choice but wanted to ask around for specific rod suggestions or favorite rod lengths or actions for this technique specific presentation. Only 1 rod for this- I'm a co-angler.

I use a Loomis BSR852 for fishing like how you describe. But seeing your a co-angler this rod may be a little long from the back of the boat.

So medium power should get it done .... If I do go with a shorter rod length like 6'6 or 6'8 would it make more sense to compensate with an extra fast tip or will a fast tip be better on a shorter rod?

I'm confident that a variety of rods will serve the purpose well. I use inexpensive 6'6" rods, one MH and the others M, all with fast tips and they're fine.

I can't imagine what benefit you'd get with a change. Maybe with a longer rod you might get a little more control during a fight, but I just can't see a significant difference.

I have a 6'8" powell max in medium action. It is perfect for skipping docks and will get the job done in open water too.

I currently have the old SHIMANO compre With the finger slot. And I thought to myself, I spend most my time with spinning gear in my hand yet all my good rods and reels are BAITCASTING. I like the rod but it's a 6'6 MHF which most rod manufacturers agree is not good power action for this technique ( generally speaking)

I have a 6'8 M-XF Carbonlite spinning for shaky heads and been meaning to try it out for wacky. I just got my wife the new swpinning Extreme 7' M-f combo for wacky that I'm hoping she will love. One of favorite rods that I had for wacky was my spinning 6'6 M-F Gander Mountain Tournament combo. It served me so well. I bought it several years ago and was my first rod and reel for bass fishing. I still have it and use to this day but I'm trying it on poppers now and another setup for wacky but not sure if feeling the other rod as of right now. I use the Cabelas XMLTiS693-1A which is a 6'9" M/F for weightless senko and fat ika duty and some other plastics and it has become one of my favorite combos. Cabelas came out with a new line to replace the XMLTi but they were on clearance for $119 and it's a very sensitive combo when paired with 6# flouro.

And I'm another user of the Loomis GLX BSR852...but for me, I don't get $400 worth of sensitivitiy out of it (I did get it used for $275 so that took out some of the sting). Were I shopping now, I'd probably be looking at the Avid AVS68MXF that RW mentioned.

I have a BSR 852 GLX, a 852 NRX and sometimes use my St. Croix ES70MF. The NRX is my favorite for weightless Senkos

Just picked up a 7' MH Veritas (VRS70-6) rod yesterday for the same purpose. It will be paired with a Pflueger Supreme XT reel (magensium body and rotor). Got both for a song at the Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show.

I have been using a 6'6" MH BPS Bionic Blade spinning rod paired with a Symetre reel for years for Senkos and other soft plastics, so this will be a significant upgrade for the rod. Was going to get a new Symetre 3000 reel, but could not pass on the deal I got on the Supreme XT.

The new combo is light as a feather when compared to the old combo. Can't wait to give it a try.

If you really look with an open mind at the Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'9" M-XF spinning, it is perfect for what you want to do. It will let you skip docks with ease, and can really handle light lures just as well as a medium light rod but has more power and the price is the really kicker. After I got my first one I could not understand why they weren't charging 200 dollars for the rods in this series, I'm glad they aren't as I would only have one but I'm looking to get my 3rd. I gave the grandson my SJR722 GL3 after using that rod, and they are super light, I didn't weigh my spinning rod but I did weight my 6'10" MH-MF casting rod and it came in at a remarkable 3.83oz on a certified scale and my spinning rod is lighter than that. Take a look, you may find a rod you like at a reasonable price.

Don't see those rods around much.... But they are cheaper. Around the price range the the Powell wacky. So many good rods, how do you choose?

I got one as soon as they released them but the only place I found it was direct from Fenwick but now Cabelas has them in stock, they don't have the 6'3" MH spinning rod ad they are missing 2 of the casting rods but the one you need to look as is there. You can also look on Amazon as I got my casting rod there for $77.49 but some people have gotten broken rods due to poor packaging or UPS destroying the rod tube. My rod came from Reds Gear and was well packed in a super thick cardboard tube and was perfect when I got it. The other thing is these rods have a lifetime warranty, I know I sound like a broken record but this rod series is impressive at any price but the fact they are in the value market price wise makes them almost a must have, how they made a rod of this caliber and sell it for its current retail is beyond me.

I have the 683 Dobyns champ and it is super lite. I would not recommend it if you are throwing the senkos in cover or fishing them weedless. I feel like it has too soft of a tip. If your just fishing the senkos wacky rigged it will work great, otherwise get the 704.

All of my rods are $200+ except for my senko spinning rods ! Look no further than Walmart online ! Daiwa Megaforce 6' m rods . I cannot find a more expensive rod that compares to it for the situation . I've tried ! I use it for skipping docks . The 6' rod gives you a very accurate cast . I have 1 reel for skipping docks and I just bought 4 rods in fear of them discontinuing them . You won't regret this $20 purchase . Phenominal rod
