ReelMaster Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I am looking for a good low profile baitcasting reel for under $150.00 for a 7' mh rod that I use for general purpose fishing on my kayak. It has been years since I have looked at any so I am not sure the quality that is out there. Thanks Quote
msolorio Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 lew's speed spool. 99 bux, very low pro, 10 bearings, very very smooth, tough, and handles light and heavy lines, baits with ease! great reels for the money. Quote
tracker01 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Curado 50E. Just a nice, easy to palm, reel. Shimano puts out some good quality baitcasters. You can find them on "for sale" boards for around $120.00 new. Now their new offerings, well, we will see. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 30, 2012 Super User Posted January 30, 2012 X2 for the Curado 50E X3 Or check our Flea Market! Quote
SoCalFisher Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Curado 50E is great but I would go for the Curado 200E7 because it is a little bigger. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted January 30, 2012 Super User Posted January 30, 2012 Does it have to be right or left hand, or doesn't it matter? I like my Curado 51E so far. TW has them for $120 on closeout. E-mail sheltonsclothing@aol.com for a BNIB Daiwa Advantage 153HSTA for $110 shIpped. Normally it is a $190 reel. TT has a nice review on them. From reports i've read BPS, Lew's, and Quantum all have some good reels for that price. Can't speak form experience on those reels, tho. If you don't mind used, you have a lot more choices. Occasionally you can find a Patriarch XT that low in the Flea Market. Mine was $5 more than that. Love it!!! Other options would include, but not be limited to, a standard Patriarch for less, or a Shimano Chronarch 100A (usually about $125) or 100B ($125-$150). Heck I've seen Zillions for $165-$170. Great reels! Then there are the Revos. An STX would be a good choice as would a Premier if you can find a used one that low. The choices are mind boggling. :D I have most of those I mentioned. I like them all. Quote
Packard Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Try to get a 6.X:1 reel for general purpose.(X being substituted for whatever number the paticular reel is.) I fish from a kayak as well. I think a Revo S, Citica G, BPS Carbonlite, or any of the Lew's reels will work if you are buying new. If you are buying used then some options to consider are a Chronarch 100B, Daiwa Fuego, Daiwa Sol, Chronarch SF, or a Revo STX. I got my Lews TPH1 for $150 new and it is a phenomenol reel. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted January 30, 2012 Super User Posted January 30, 2012 The 50E 's really are where it's at. I love mine with all my heart <3 But if you want to go the used route, look for a used Daiwa Zillion. They are the bee's knees as they say. Quote
