Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 7, 2012 Super User Posted January 7, 2012 I got this reel for $99 on Black Friday and am not sure what to do with it. Does anyone have one that would like to chime in on it? I've heard mixed reviews on it... Does it excel at throwing light baits or heavy baits ? Would it make a good pitching reel with 15-20# flouro on it? Or should I go with my gut and put it on the "Bay" and get a Diawa? BTW it's still NIB and is my first Quantum hence all the questions. Hey, I got one at cabelas on Black friday for 99$ too, I have used it, it is the same as a curado 200e7, yes it would make a good pitching reel! Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted January 7, 2012 Author Super User Posted January 7, 2012 It's a great looking reel & I like the way the break is set up on it but I've heard they aren't smooth at all... To be honest I can't imagine it being any rougher than my Core 50. Quote
Crankenstein Crony Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 I have Tour Edition PT VI. I mostly crank with mine, but its an awesome reel. I casts smaller cranks like my 1.5 square bills, series 1's, and series 3's just fine. I get good distance with it. I've used it for throwing series 5's, 5xd's, and 6xd's and it flat out bombs those bigger baits. I don't know who said they aren't smooth, because mine is very smooth. I was very disappointed I didn't have the extra cash to get a couple of them from Cabelas on their black friday sale. And I agree with nwibass, it should you a very good pitching reel. Quote
nwibass Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Theyre just as smooth as curados, but you should definatley keep it its an excellent reel. especially gettig minr for 106$, although i would never pay the full 270$ retail price for it. Quote
dcorp Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 It's a great reel. I just recently got a curado and while it's nice, the TE will be used much more. Quote
hendrix190 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 i got one recently, its my fav reel, very smooth, i use it for a finesse application, casting and pitching 1/8 ounce lures, but im sure it would work just as well with heavier lures Quote
