Have any of you dealt with St. Croix's service department? I managed to snap my Triumph yesterday and was wondering what the best way to go about the service or if I shouldn't even bother. I read the website about their different service plans and was just looking for feedback from y'all. Thanks.

I have never owned any St Croix product, I don't think a triumph is too expensive. Personally I would never bother with a warranty if the rod value was l00 or less, except an over the counter exchange. I don't feel it's worth the effort of to pack it up and ship it back. I don't know but do they pay the shipping both ways and send a tube for free? If the answer is no I wouldn't bother with it.

That was part of what I was thinking. If it is worth it to me (if I can save money), then I will try and deal with their service department. That is what I am trying to figure out.

Well, it's $50 + $10 to replace it with the Gold Star program. I've never had any problems with their warranty dept.

He said he broke it, I took that to mean it isn't a warranty issue.

No, it was completely my fault. I was stupid about trying to get a lure unhung and got line wrapped all around it and it snapped. I've only had it since May, so it would still be under warranty, but I don't think that will apply since it is my fault.

Well I broke my Avid twice (once my fault-once not) but still $20 plus $10 for shipping and they took care of me. Thats why since then I have bought 3 more rods of theirs.

It doesn't matter whose fault it is. Your rod has a 5 year warranty. If you use the gold star plan it'll cost you $50 to get it repaired or replaced. No questions asked. Call them and they'll tell you how to print out their shipping label.
