carrothead Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 These look like they will put gammies to shame! They look awesome, but at $9.99 for a 5 pack, somehow they seem out of my price range. If i can afford them sometime, I'll definitely try them. Also, how do you keep your hooks from rusting? I keep mine in Plano boxes and they always seem to have surface rust after just one or two outings. Quote
daviscw Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Owners put Gammies to shame. Put those silica pack things that come in shoe boxes in your tackle box to absorb moisture. Quote
bnwcrankin Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Those look awesome. Here's another hook I plan on using. I saw them at ICAST and I think they might keep those fish on a little longer when they start shaking their heads.... http://basstarbaits.com/spintech/ Quote
SudoomFisher Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 To me these look like a good replacement for the RI hook that was discontinued that everyone liked so much. Quote
EdKras Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 10.00 a pack of 4-5 hooks. They've got to charge that to pay that pro staff. I'll check them out when they're on the clearance rack. Quote
80pruf Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 The reaction innovations bmf hooks (which these look A LOT like) have sold recently on ebay for as much as 12 dollars a pack so I guess people that really liked those hooks might not have a problem paying that for them. I can say that I have about 5 packs of bmf's left and I wouldn't sell them for 12 dollars a pack...they are the best flippin' hook I have ever used BY FAR! Quote
Micropterus salmoides Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Not that I plan on buying any of these hooks, but if I eventually did I'd definitely wait a while to hear angler's feedback. At that price point I'd expect them to last several times longer than other manufacturer's hooks. BTW, the Reaction Innovations BMF hook is being sold by another company under a different name. It's the exact same hook Gamakatsu made for R.I. It's now called the Punch Hook by Paycheck Baits. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 20, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 20, 2009 Gene and I had a chance to check out the entire line of Trokar hooks at ICAST, and I must say, these things are awesome. They're the sharpest hooks I've ever encountered. Simply put, I was a little nervous handling them - like you would a handful of loose razor blades. They're scary sharp. There's an "additional" keeper hook on the backside, created by material akin to shrink tubing. It's a little odd looking. It's designed to hold your plastic lures in place. It's an interesting concept. I'm curious how well it works. They look and feel pretty solid too, but only time will tell if they'll hold up to an angry 5-pound smallmouth! Quote
Super User Dan: Posted July 20, 2009 Super User Posted July 20, 2009 That's just too expensive for me. I honestly don't feel like I lose or miss many fish because my hooks aren't sharp enough. Quote

R.I. used to sell the keeper as an add on to the BMF hooks. Did the keeper look like these? http://www.performancetackle.com/freshwater-fishing/terminal-tackle/accessories/bmf-barb/prodbmfBarb.html Quote
