acajun2 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I live on a private lake in NE Florida, 6 acres, spring fed. I can walk out my back door and be bass fishing in 50'. I don't have a boat, so all my fishing is done from the bank. The lake is about 6 acres, deepest part is about 12-15'. The bottom is covered in moss and grass. I have been using mainly plastic worms and plastic salamanders. Not catching much anymore. This spring I could catch 1-1/2 to 2 lb. bass. I know there are some big ones in there over 6 lbs. Any suggestions on how to fish this lake under my circumstances? Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Look for some deeper water within casting distance. Check the inlet and outlet for channels and water oxygenated by the current. Fish should become more active and move shallow again as fall approaches. You can try some moving baits like a spinner and cover more water. Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Stand out when the suns going down and see if you hear/see any top water hits. If so try using something topwater around dusk into dark. NGaHB Quote
tennsopher Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 I would suggest you wear muted colors or camo, and approach the water as quietly as possible. You stated the lake was spring fed with grass in it.This tells me the water is normally clear.Try not to throw shadows on the water as you approach and keep your profile low.In regards to baits,I woud go with senkos, flukes,or unweighted worms as you say the water is not very deep.Baits with a subtle action should shine there. If you fish early in am or late evening or even after dark, try a buzzbait or a topwater you can work with a rythm.Hope this helps. TouchTooMuch Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 You can try a shallow and medium lipped crank bait. As for shallow I love my KVD 1.5, great action. and for medium I like the Spro Little John MD. Quote
endless Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 I would be fan casting out a 3/8 Chatterbait with a nice trailer. I like my White Chartreuse chatter. My retrieve will vary along with speed. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I would try Popr and broken tail jitterbugs after dark. larger ones for a longer cast. Natural looking colors or black Quote
jiggerpole Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 If you have a pier on this lake I would put some lights on it. Attract the bugs that attract the baitfish that attracts the bass that attracts you. Then have fun, catching, watching and learning. Also a feeder to go off in the daytime. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 Spro Bronzeye, Gambler Big EZ in Copperfield, and a softplastic of your choice. Throwing in a Heddon Torpedo wouldn't be a bad idea either... Quote

When they do eat, they prefer something big or something doesn't required a lot of energy to get. Quote
