Super User Hi Salenity Posted September 7, 2011 Super User Posted September 7, 2011 Does anyone use Power Pro Super 8 Slick? Does this line float or sink ? Another dumb question does the depth runner sink? Quote
Midnight Splash2 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I was going to buy some over the Labor Day sale but couldn't find the specs. Anyone know the diameter of the 40 & 50lb? Quote
Super User Marty Posted September 7, 2011 Super User Posted September 7, 2011 According to the site of a well-known retailer, the diameters of the 40 and 50#, respectively, are .013 and .014". Quote
Midnight Splash2 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Thanks Marty. After seeing your post I went to TW to order some and saw they had the specs up now. I looked everywhere including there on Sunday for the specs but couldn't find them. I'm not too fond of the brown but Im going to give the 40lb a shot on my Curado 50E for light plastics. Maybe this one wont sing to me aftter i cross there eyes! Quote
philsoreel Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Haven't been using it long enough to give a real review or anything, but so far I'm liking it. They weren't kidding when they named it slick. It has a very slick feel to it. 40# is measuring out at .0125" 9 out 10 times. This PowerPro line doesn't have the extremely low diameter to strength ratio the old stuff does...right now it doesn't. What I mean by that is, I think as the coating wears off the diameter will get a little smaller, like the original PP. It's smooth and quiet, but I haven't got a good solid chunk hooked up way out there yet. The only fish I've caught on it have been right at the boat so I didn't get to crank on it hard. It does cast very well and I'm sure it will get much better as it breaks in. I'll give a more detailed opinion later after I've had time to really form one. So far, so good though. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted September 13, 2011 Author Super User Posted September 13, 2011 I ended up going with 832 on the 2 new reels I bought but I have 2 spinning reels that need line and I'm thinking about trying this stuff out. Opinions? Should I try 15# or 20# Quote
