airborne_angler Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 I recently picked up a few packs.Got 2 packs in Plum and 2 packs in Green Pumpkin. All are the 10" variety Who has used these worms and what technique was successful? Anyone ever sever the tail to make em a "cut tail"? How's that work out? Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 29, 2011 Super User Posted May 29, 2011 Nope all they do you is hurt you arms & elbows Ole school Texas rigged on deep water structure or speed reeling them on the surface like a frog! Quote

WanderLust Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 /\ Thanks I have both Anaconda & Thumper havent tried them yet. that article helped. Thumper is awesome... Anaconda I didn't have much luck with but in all fairness I didn't try it long. Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 The thumper is my favorite worm. You can tune the tail to change the frequency of the vibration. More here ---> http://ragetalk.com/index.php?topic=2347.0 Quote

All are the 10" variety Who has used these worms and what technique was successful? Catt hit the nail on the head with deep structure and as for the cut tail, I love it! Also, if you read any of Big O's posts from early this year and last year, most all of them include a thumper. Here is a great example: Quote
Big-O Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 ETB has all of the right info And never discard the bait if the head wears out, just cut it down as you go or shorten it. His note about dragging bottom is important too, as the tail lifts up during the drag when hooked in that manner. BTW, with Green Pumpkin I have a habit of tipping the tail with Chart. JJ's as I think the little bit of flash it provides helps to draw a few more strikes in some situations... Must be the change in basic coloration or possibly similar to Brim or other natural bait that makes even the most stubborn fish commit. My favorite big worm for big fish in stained, deeper water or when using the RAGE RIG (weighted hook) on top of grass, is still the 10" Anaconda but I have been running short on them lately... Fishing grass with the weighted hook this Spring and the fish ate'em all! I guess I better get some more soon Hope you like'em Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
ChrisAW Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 I use the 7" Thumpers for swimjig trailers, cut #2 as in ETB's write up. I Depends sometimes though, I'll use it the way it comes, or cut all the way. I also have 10"ers but I can't say I've used them yet this year, Spent most of my time with search baits so far, just trying to get more confidence in them. Quote
