Senko or Gulp Sinking Minnow?

They are the same type of bait,but what one do you like more.  A bud of mine fished a tournament today and they did very well on the Gulp,and not so good on the senko's and they were fishing the same colors! I have never fished this sinking minnow but maybe I should get some.

By the way they took first place too.

Gulp is what you say before you throw up from:

1. paying that much for sucky plastics that pretty much dissolve

2. you'll find out when you open the package.

I tend to stay away from Gulp products. It just stinks a little too much and the liquid likes to leak out and get into places it shouldn't. I would much rather use Powerbait products anyday.

I've tried the Gulp sinking minnow. In my opinion, it's a very poor Senko knock-off at best. These baits are stiff and dry out easily. No where near the action of a Senko on the fall. The "stuff" it's made of is indeed an eatable product, with respect to what fish will eat. But sometimes they eat marshmallows too! I'll stick with the Senko.

However, I am trying the 3" & 4" Gulp minnow this year, fishing with jigs and on the drop shot. Not sure how that's going to work out yet?

These baits are stiff and dry out easily. No where near the action of a Senko on the fall.

And rubbery too. That's pretty much the way I would describe them.

    All the Gulp! products freshwater or saltwater seem a little to "stiff" to have a good action on them.

    I will stick with the Senko.

Well as the resident advocate for GULP!, I will take the opposing view point. I have caught bigger fish on GULP!, but more in Senko's - here's why.  I am convinced that the scent trail that GULP! gives off attracts fish!  Therefore, I use them as my primary search bait.  Once I find that fish are definetly in the area and willing to bite, I switch to Senko's because (even with the reputation of not holding up well) they are less expensive than GULP! in the long run.  Are they an apples to apples comparison - no, but they do have similar qualities.  This goes for both the sinking minnows and the turtleback worms (I switch to ZOOM Ultra-vibes in this case).

I am a fan of some of the small gulp baits, the 3" fry, 3" leech, and 2.5" minnow, for drop shotting smallmouth, they are not too stiff, and SM seem to tear them up while biting nothing else. But thats where my love for gulp ends, the sinking minnow was the senko knock off bait I have liked the least, and will not buy any more. Yum Dingers have been the best knock offs I have used, but I think they are the same as the *** Trick sticks every one loves around here, and when my supply of dingers is gone I will go with *** myself.

When the bass fishing slows down, put on a Gulp! Sinking Minnow and fish for catfish.

Catfish love Gulp! products.

Let me just say i am not a fan of anything Berkley. So gulp i will not use. but i did notice the difference in colors between the 2 baits. the gulp in watermalon w/red and black looks like a totally different color than the same color in senko. maybe they were keying in on the gulp color more. to me the gulp is a much lighter color. or maybe they liked the fish food or whatever that stuff is, i dont know.but senko is a better bait IMO.

I know a few Walleye guys that swear by Gulp and in saltwater that's about all they use.

However, I don't use it much for bass. As other have said, kind of stiff but if you do get bit they aren't letting go. Use *** and smear on some Megastrike.

Senkos all the way. I do like the gulp minnow grubs and gulp minnows though. If you buy gulp alive, be careful to seal it really well because if you don't you will get the liquid all over your tackle. The gulp grubs do have good action.

I have literally had fish repelled by gulp stinking minnows....It may be crack for smallmouth but it's a largemouth repellent

senko senko senko!!! with a dab of megastrike! its better than gulp and they dont disolve once you open them.
