Alright so Minnesota's bass season is sneakin up here in a couple weeks and I gotta pregame. What is your most successful lure for spring? I'm thinkin 1/4oz jig's, 1/16th oz tubes, with some weightless plastics.

Depends on whether you are fishing for LM or SM bass for one thing. The clarity of the water is another consideration, along with water temperature. When these variables are known, then you can narrow down the playing field a bit.

You said you still have a couple of weeks before your season starts! Living in MA here, I can only say that the water temps, by the end of this month, will be in the low to mid 60's. But I have no idea what you are going to be faced with. I do think you need to answer my previous questions first however. Then, maybe, some folks in your area can help?

Lipless crankbaits ripped off the bottom.

If the water is clear, try the jerkbait too.

SM or LM will eat either of these choices.  Mix sizes & colors up to see what they prefer.

I do well in the East Metro with chatterbaits in the Spring. And, of course, Senkos.

And the bass opener "sneaked up" on you huh? I've been crossing off the days on my calendar for months! I was seriously bummed watching all those walleye guys hitting the lakes this weekend. And a little ticked at all the folks I saw fishing from shore, who I'm sure, were hitting bass. But that's a whole other topic.

Not really sneaked up on the season, but i have my first tournament the june 3rd and still have some work on the boat to do.

To answer questions:

Largemouth

stained water 3-4ft clarity

couldn't tell you water temps but guessin low 60's high 50's

milfoil, some pads but probably not much growth

Don't foget a soft plastic jerkbaits, they can be great for the cruisers and prespawners... if there are any left by the 23rd.... jeez it can't get here soon enough
