MaineBassMan Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Many more to come. I've posted these in the outing thread, but I've decided they belong here with the smallmouth fans. Think I'll just keep putting my smallmouth pictures here for the rest of the season, unless it will bog the thread down? Quote
Sfritr Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Nice. I like the fact that you put the lure in the pics. That is a cool idea. Definately something I will do this year. Thanks for the pics Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted April 7, 2010 Super User Posted April 7, 2010 Nice collection of pictures so far. Quote
plnoldrick Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Great fish! Man I look at those pictures and wish we had some of the water you guys have up there. Rocky lakes are so much more scenic then these mud pits down here in PA. Most people head south when they retire, personally, I'm headin north! Quote
SausageFingers23 Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Great photos! I havent been out on the water in the twenties yet but I did get out when it was 30 deg. in an inflatable kayak. It was an experience. Im going to start taking my photos with the lure as well. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted April 8, 2010 Super User Posted April 8, 2010 Way to go MaineBassMan. Keep em coming. Quote
MaineBassMan Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Just to put things in perspective; the day my friend and I went on April first our five fish limit was 17lbs 09oz, which I think is awesome. I would have won a lot of our local tournaments with that weight last season! My best five fish total on this lake is 19lbs 10oz. with all smallmouth there are no largies in this one. Quote
tnbassfisher Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Great pictures, and nice fish! Personally, after living in TN my entire life I will probably never be able to make myself go out in 26 deg weather to fish. Quote

WanderLust Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Awesome pics! Thanks for showing your lures as well. What was the average water temp & depth where you were finding our bucketmouth friends? 26 is quite nippy. Quote
MaineBassMan Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 Awesome pics! Thanks for showing your lures as well. What was the average water temp & depth where you were finding our bucketmouth friends? 26 is quite nippy. There was a wide range of water temps on the largemouth days, It ranged from 48-57 degrees. I was finding them in the 51-57 degree range and they were pretty much tight to the bank in about four foot of water. I caught a few off the bank in about six foot of water too. They were also located mostly on the heath shorelines and if there were a few rocks mixed in those heaths those were the really hot shorelines. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 10, 2010 Super User Posted April 10, 2010 Some nice pictures indeed! Congrats! Quote

Bagged a couple smallies at lunch... I'll be back at this evening with my 7 year old son. Real lazy retrieve with a heavy pause was needed for the bite. Quote
