DINK WHISPERER Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Hey guys! I recently bought some Charlie Worms brand lures that i want to try out. I opened them and they smell really sweet though! Almost like fruit or a candy of some sort. Will the fish hold on to these things at all after they take it(if they do)? Quote
DeepStructure Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Didn't Mann's used to sell worms that were grape-scented? I never heard anyone claim that this repelled fish. I honestly think if it tastes at all natural, they won't drop it any faster than any other soft plastic bait. This is probably why the coffee lures work fine, too. I'm actually still a little surprised that garlic was a trend in scents for a while, because lots of *people* don't like garlic (though I do ) Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 I just saw the whole coffee scent thing myself man! I was pretty shocked, thought it was a misprint, LOL! i guess i might just try my candy scented lures. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted April 22, 2009 Super User Posted April 22, 2009 Mann's Jelly worms are fruit scented according to they're color Quote

DeepStructure Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I know it's still around, I have some garlic lures; it just seemed like there was a time when it was especially popular, coffee seems to be the hot thing now. Quote

Furbit Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hey guys! I recently bought some Charlie Worms brand lures that i want to try out. I opened them and they smell really sweet though! Almost like fruit or a candy of some sort. Will the fish hold on to these things at all after they take it(if they do)? I have been using Charlie Worms, Worms and Craws for at least 5 years now. Great products. I don't know if the scent they come in helps but I do know it does not hurt for I have caught a ton of fish on the worms and use nothing but Charlie craws on my jigs. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted April 22, 2009 Super User Posted April 22, 2009 Charlies worms are great baits! Most of what you smell is anise. If you can find the ten inch worms,****** them. They are way fatter in the body than most any others on the market. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I stock up on Charlie's Worms every time I'm down in FL. I have not noticed that the scent hurts, certainly they smell great. Better than power bait. Charlies Worms com in some really neat colors. I've been using them for about 5 or 6 years now, and will continue to drop cash on them whenever I'm down there in FL. Quote
drmnbig Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 The Mann's jelly worms smell awesome. I only use the purple colored ones and they smeel just like the grape bubble gum I chewed growing up. Brings back good memories! BTW, the little 4" worms are killer on days when the bite is slow. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 22, 2009 Super User Posted April 22, 2009 I've got a couple of packages of Chomper's finesse worms, which I use sometimes for drop shotting. However, last year when I opened the first package, the garlic smell was SO intense that my partner said to let him know if I was going to use them the next time we go fishing - and he'd stay home! That's how bad they were! ;D Quote

I bought a pack of garlic scented lizards and it was just terrible lol. Quote

Thats why I said in my other post if that you see them ****** them.Their floater style worms(trickworm) are killer as well and barely sink. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 That's one thing i hate about them! They are not available anywhere but BPS(2 hour drive) around my neck a da! Wally sales one kind and one color, SUCKS!!! > Quote
mrlitetackle Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 OHHHHH,,,,,,, you've got the best worms in my eyes!!!!! charlie's are the best worms in my bag over the last nine years..... although recently i have noticed that the great charlie's scent isn't as heavy as in the bags i have bought in the past.....(im highly saddened by this!!)....... although the new bags still work wonders.......i tend to dip them through the remaining older bags to get the goodness all over them.....bass love it, and so do i !!!!!!!!!! ;D Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted April 24, 2009 Author Posted April 24, 2009 I guess i will just through these things Sat then! I hope my luck changes from no bites too! Quote

Don't know, i didn't get to take the boat out! I was all packed and ready when i checked the forecast. 25MPH winds in a 16ft boat with HUGE waves is a no go for me. Lake Istokpoga can get pretty dangerous in those conditions! I will be trying them for sure next weekend though. Quote
