Favorite Cold Water lure?

My typical scenario lately has been 55 degree air temps with 53 degree water. This is on a 40 acre pond with absolutely no visable cover and a max depth of 14 feet. Water is not gin clear, but you can see down a foot or two with no glasses on.

What lure do you guys love for conditions like this, and what's your presentation?

i love fishing a texas rigged lizard or salamander. as light as you can get away with, making sure i just come in contact with the weeds

    I also agree that a jerkbait would do good.  I like the Smithwick Suspending Rogues 5.5".

burn a lipless crank around. if you find a concentration of fish, slow down and milk em with a jig. eakins jigs are great for this.

Either a creme white senko or a firetiger or perch colored X - Rap.

Depends.

If they are deep and holding to structure then it is a shaky head or jig and pig.

If they are moving around then it is a spinnerbait, flat sided crankbait or any crankbait with orange on it.

In a lake it is a jerkbait.

With a shallow pond like this, I'd definitely make the hard jerkbait my No. 1 starting presentation. I may go to a soft jerk - Sluggo, etc. - if I get a follow or two (put some MegaStrike on it!). The shakey head would probably work as well, once you locate the bass, but you really need to cover more water during this time of the year. The bass are definitely moving. The hard jerks have the nod, in my opinion.

I have equal success with lipless crankbaits, jerkbaits, and spinnerbaits.

I would go with a jerk bait or a jig.  Maybe a shaky head or wacky style presentation as well.

Water temp here is 52 right now and I have been catching most of my fish on a whitish colored spinnerbait.

i've had luck here in water temp less than 55 with a chrome/blue rattle trap.  i know a lot of people say red or orange, but i have not done any good with those colors here......and i sure have tried..  :-?

I think it is because the craws in the Indiana, Ohio  do not turn red from the mud they hibernate in. I think that is a southern thing. I have fished for many years and have never seen a red craw in this area.
