Super User eyedabassman Posted April 10, 2009 Super User Posted April 10, 2009 I have a bunch of these hooks that I just found hidding in my tackle box. I have not used these hooks. Have any of you fished them? they have a little wire up on the eye of the hook to hold the bait on. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 10, 2009 Super User Posted April 10, 2009 I like the keeper on the hook eye but don't like the hook style. I bought then for fishing with tubes which they were designed for. Quote
Stasher1 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 I picked up several packs of these about a year ago for $.47 a pack and haven't found a use for them yet. :-/ Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted April 10, 2009 Author Super User Posted April 10, 2009 As Wayne P said, they were made for tube baits. I will have to go into the lab and try them on other baits and see what I can come up with! : :) Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted April 10, 2009 Super User Posted April 10, 2009 Are they the Shaw Grigsby hooks? I bought some for tube fishing with weight inserts...haven't really used them the bait doesn't seem to stay on the hook, even with the little wire at the top Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted April 10, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted April 10, 2009 Yes, I've used them a lot over the years. They work best on finesse baits such as tubes and grubs, and anything on a splitshot rig. Not so much on larger plastics because it makes the worms "bend" upward at the front, plus the bullet weight will point "up". But for the finesse baits - great stuff! Quote
MyKeyBe Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Take the wire keeper off the HP hooks and then put the keeper on your favorite EWG hook. Works great! Quote
