I am having a bad spring so far,  I have been fishing in two ponds and have caught a total of 5 fish in the past two weeks.  One of the ponds I have killed them in the past on senkos.  No luck.  The other one is my cousins farm pond, I use zoom finesse worms on a spot remover jig.  I have gotten good bites but just put tension instead of a good hook set.  I blame this to fishing for spotted sea trout this past winter.  It just seems that all my past knowledge isn't really panning out.  I am in eastern NC and some of the fish should be starting to spawn and I can't buy a bite.

:) We just got rid of our ice up here about 3 weeks ago! Yesterday I went out with a buddy of mine and the water temp, in this particular lake, was in the low to upper 40's most of the day. Barely broke 50 by the time we pulled off. And top that off with flooding conditions almost everywhere in the lower New England states. We actually launched the boat in a flooded parking lot, as the ramp was totally underwater!

We are having to deal with high, cold, muddy water conditions here a bouts. I did manage to get a couple of pickeral and my partner got one nice bass - 4lbs. 5oz. for the day. And we had to really work at it!

Hopefully the conditions will start to warm up and the fish will as well. Sometimes we have to take a step back and smell the roses!  :)

When you have a bad day or even a bunch of bad days, I wouldn't sweat it to much.

Simply go look at the results of every day of the Elite series tourneys like the 2010 Bassmasters Classic and Clear Lake and the Delta and count the guys who either struggled or got SKUNKED. There's A LOT.

We're talkin' about the best anglers in the world bro! These guys are on the best lakes, at the best times of year, with the best rods, reels, line, baits, boats, and side imaging/sonar/fish finders sponsers can give them. Not to mention they're some of the most experienced bass fishermen in the world and some days, the bass just own them.

A slump can be good for you. It can really make you focus more than you have been. It also makes the times you ARE slaying the bass even better, and easier to appreaciate.

Switch it up a little. I rarely fish the same lures each time I hit a pond or lake to give the fish a different look. If I was fishing the bottom one day because the wind was calm. The following day I got some wind I change it up and fish cranks or moving baits. If I fish through an area with a crankbait I might make a second pass with a worm or jig. :)
