It's refreshingly less like the sweltering summer of August. But for bass fishermen, September sometimes lands us smack in the middle of a month of confusion.  Let Kevin VanDam guide you through it.

That's a pretty concise article indeed. I always disliked Sept.. You have to try so many presentations in order to work out a pattern. It just drives me nuts sometimes. The smallies were down around 35' last week. And the drop shot was slaying them. Tomorrow I'm going and I just know it'll be hit or miss there. So....I'll go to plan "B"!

This means that I usually start finding humps in water 5' - 10' shallower than the 35' depths I've previously found them. Hmmm. That didn't sound right. What I mean is, if I can't find them in 35', then I'll search for some humps in like 25'. Then work my way up to the shallower humps and points.

Still a bit too early to find them really shallow now, but they (SM's) can be harder to find this time of year.
