BlakeMolone Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 About a year ago when I first got on this forum and started getting interested in bass fishing I would see people talk about being able to fish certain baits on spinning gear and I though they were talking about setups that you fish spinnerbaits with :-[ Im sure there will be some good ones ;D Quote
mrlitetackle Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 no hard feelings...... as long as you love the sport..... who cares if you know the lingo.... catching fish is the bottom line, eh!!!! Quote
Branuss04 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 About 4 years ago when I first started bass fishing and became friends with fourbizz, we would always talk on myspace about fishing, and one day he he sent me a message that said he "was going to go catch some pigs tomorrow night". I replied back "First fishing, now pig wrangling.... you have some weird hobbies". :-[ I quickly learned the "Fishing" lingo!!!! ;D Quote
aarogb Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Don't worry about a thing, we all have our so called "blonde moments". Quote

Super User Catt Posted May 3, 2009 Super User Posted May 3, 2009 Things that make you feel stupid Someone sent me a new species of spinner baits to evaluate so while at my niece's son's birthday party I decided to give one a try in their stocked pond. After a couple hours several strikes and hooking nothing I'm thinking it aint looking to good for this bait when some grass wrapped the blades and upon picking the grass ole catt noticed the little plastic tube protecting the hook point. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted May 3, 2009 Super User Posted May 3, 2009 ole catt noticed the little plastic tube protecting the hook point. Gotta take that condom off and ride bareback Quote
CODbasser Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 i wasnt paying attention yesterday and got in a hurry to cull fish, i threw a fish out of the boat with a cull bobber in its mouth....the sad thing is i did the same thing again about two hours later...haha...and the fish just swim down with them in there mouth..i can see the look on someones face now when they catch one of those bass...they are gonna be sayin "wonder what moron did this" haha Quote
Captain Obvious Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Saying that there was a 28lb bass in my home lake in my first post and then not being able to follow up with a pic (ouch). I was like "Welcome to BassResource.com Cap.t O,Now keep your mouth shut till your a 100% sure about the facts" I kinda came off as a B.S. which I hope that has changed :-/ Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I haven't done this in quite a while, but it really makes me feel stupid when I get a hit as soon as my lure hits the water...then I set the hook before I engage the reel. Extreme bird's nest. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted May 3, 2009 Super User Posted May 3, 2009 Working a spot over thoroughly and then seeing multiple fish busting the surface all around :-/ Quote MC Hammer"you can't touch this". Threading a trailer on a brand new jig and failing to realize that it wasn't tied on yet, then tossing it overboard. DOUBLE DOH!!!! Getting mad and throwing my pliers down in boat.It is aluminum so you know how that story ended. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I once took this girl fishing with me(trying to show off) and i put my old Stratos boat on plane with the trolling motor still engaged and in the water!!!!!!!!!! > Quote

Super User Crestliner2008 Posted May 3, 2009 Super User Posted May 3, 2009 This past Thursday I launched without first making sure the plug was in the boat! Quote
Muad Dib Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 when im not catching fish and other anglers are. that also makes me angry > thus the raaaaaaaaage t Quote
infiltwb Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 lol not so much a linguistical obstacle, however my first experience with a baitcaster involved a 1/8oz crankbait...despite the 30yds or so of line that flew off the spool, the lure went...maybe 2 feet? and was promptly hammered by a 3.5lb largemouth sooo yeah, great way to clear a birdsnest hehe. add to that every time i get cocky and turn the casting brake down too far hehe. Quote
Btech Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 This past Thursday I launched without first making sure the plug was in the boat! think thats bad try launching while your rope from the crank is attached to the boat... than sittin in the boat for 20 min thinking somthing is wrong with Reverse... OR My buddy iceman....WOW where to start ' We just bought my boat We launch at midnit (things that make you feel stupid are all over this one) he is in the boat im in the truck. i launch him out .... Pull truck to parking spot and walk to the ramp and watch him.... he jumps 8 foot from the boat to the dock holding the docking rope in his hand and misses the dock by a inch falling in the water...Why you ask? He forgot about the Engine, Trollin motor and.... paddles thinking he was gona be stranded so he decided to jump and save himself and my boat.... I dont know who felt more like an Idiot.... Quote
CODbasser Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 talkin about buddys stupid moments....the first time my buddy took his new ranger out he had a good day, got back to the ramp, loaded the boat...the driver of the truck pulled out and up throught the parking lot...thats all cool, but they did this without trimming the motor up haha...poor lower unit...he said he felt sick after that one lol...i felt bad for him too Quote
Super User islandbass Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 I was so green when I first started fishing (initially self-taught) that if you asked me what a bail was, I would have told you it was what you had to pay to avoid jail. 20 degree weather, frozen and numb hands, despite wearing bulky gloves that had to be removed to tie knots. Hands so stiff it took what felt like 30 seconds to tie a freakin' Palomar knot, a palomar knot!!! Come on! Nobody takes 30 seconds to tie a Palomar not! Well, maybe those who first make the loop of a Palomar knot and then try to inesert it into the hook's eye, but even I am not that stupid. ) but that's not it... I grab my scissors to cut the excess tag end of the line and wind up cutting the main line instead. Yeah, that's dumb but I wound up doing two more times, back to back to back. Ooohhhh sometimes I feel (and act) like an idiot. :-[ Made a double-bladed experimental inline spinner that I was dying to try out so I rushed out of the house and to the pond. I cast it out and it flies into the next zip code; Awesome!!! On the retrieve, I get a hit and set the hook and miss. Another hit, miss. Another cast, hit, and miss. I'm begining to think, "What in the world is going on? I can't possibly miss that many times!" A repeat of the same again. This time I finally look at the lure to see if anything is wrong. Yup!! I forgot to add the hook. No split ring, no split ring pliers, no extra treble hook or other hook, no other lures since I was "field testing" after all. It's just God's irony and sense of humor; Biting fish and no way to catch them. I know He was laughing all the way to the bank. It just makes me oooohhhhhh Yosemite Sam mad! ;D Now further stories because it's just too painful. ;D Quote
Super User Micro Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 Trying to start my outboard and cussing my outboard in front of other fishermen before realizing the on/off switch was off. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 Having a TM on one of those removable mounts and forgetting to put the thing on the boat before leaving for the lake. Trying to launch a boat with the transom tie downs still attached. Taking off from the launch ramp, running down the lake and then remembering all my tackle was back in the back seat of the truck. Attempting to set the hook a fish on my first trip of the season and forgetting to remember that I had all the drags on my reels completely turned off. Having a 24 volt TM, getting to the lake and launching. Hit the on button on the TM and nothing happens. Then remembering I stole one of the batteries to use on my other boat. Quote
Brute Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Last year I was fishing with my Brother and we were both using worms. After an hour or so i decided to tie on my brand new Spro Aruku Shad. This was my first expensive lure costing me $9.00. I go to cast it to the shore with the same effort I was throwing the worm with. When it reaches the shore it is still climbing and gets hung up way up in a tree. That darn thing didn't even get wet and it's gone for good. :'( going, going, going, it's outta here. Brute Quote
fatbass Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Getting stuck out in a huge thunderstorm with just enough raingear for the wife, and I get soaked. Then, going out the next day by myself and getting stuck in a huge thunderstorm with no raingear at all because it was hung out to dry and left behind. Yeah, I got soaked again. Quote
Olebiker Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 I once took this girl fishing with me(trying to show off) and i put my old Stratos boat on plane with the trolling motor still engaged and in the water!!!!!!!!!! > Been there, done that, got the T-shirt, shrank it and gave it to my little brother. I always seem to do it in front of a bunch of people. Quote
