Thanks alot that was great! I have built a homemade livewell out of an icechest for my aluminum boat. I especially need to keep my fish alive during my highschool bassfishing tournaments. I have a tournament this Saturday and I'm going to give it a try.

Mine can do either on a timer.  Mostl I fill my livewell and then put it on auto recirculate, then after a few hours I will change out the water.

Putting salt tabs in water makes saltwater! Bass live in Freshwater! Saltwater will KILL the bass.

DON'T put salt in your livewell!!!!!!

Salt can be put in livewells. It is, like hydrogen peroxide put in livewells in very small concentrations. Freshwater itself is 100% free of salt. Freshwater is typically less than 1% salt. In fact bass, like humans need salt and other electrolytes in the blood. We humans replace it through gatorade and other sports drinks. You can replace the electrolytes in a bass by placing small amounts of salt in your livewell. I personally use maybe a half ounce or less per gallon of water. I have heard of far more per gallon. upwards of 1 ounce per gallon.

Yes, you could use salt in small quantities, but that really leaves a lot of opportunities for error. You really need to know what you're doing.

Use 'Catch and Release' instead.  It already has the proper amount of salt in it, plus it has a whole bunch of other beneficial stuff in it that helps fish survive.  It's a no-brainer.
