simplejoe Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 Well I'm waiting to hear the final verdict tomorrow. I talked to my agent today and he said my boat insurance doesn't cover any contents inside the boat. > But luckily somehow my homeowners might. To me this is the part that doesn't make any sense at all. How can my homeowners cover it but not my boat insurance? ;D So tomorrow I'm go to down to his office tomorrow and changing my policy. I'll keep you guys updated. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Dang man, sorry to hear that. I once had 5 rods and reels stolen...one of them being a NEW CALIAS...I understand the feeling. Hopefully them thieves get CAUGHT!!! Quote
MaineBassMan Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 That sucks man! Whenever I take my boat to the mechanic everything comes out before hand! Quote
simplejoe Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 That sucks man! Whenever I take my boat to the mechanic everything comes out before hand! I always do, but this time I was in a hurry to beat the snowstorm about come in. Quote
rowyourboat Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 bad new man.... atleast you get to spend a day or two with your best friend the bait monkey though!!! Quote
RockvilleMDAngler Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Sorry to hear about the theft! Thiefs drive me crazy! Make sure you speak to your boat insurance company and have them add some protection for tackle. I have $5000 of coverage for tackle on my policy from Progressive, it would not be enough to replace all the gear if my boat sank with all of it on board, but it would be enough to get me back fishing quickly. Quote
simplejoe Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 I had my insurance set up before where everything was covered ( For Tournaments). I have my Camp, Boat and Quad all on the same policy. When I bought my new quad I took the old one off the policy and added the new one. The policy was more expensive so I changed some things around to get it cheaper. I didn't know she messed with my boat package I thought she messed around with just the quad package. Quote
joshuaryan Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 That sucks. Sorry to hear about that. Quote
D4u2s0t Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 d**n, that sucks bro... hope your gear is still there. Luckily we're in a hobby where the vast majority of thieves are not going to take your fishing gear. Hopefully they just grabbed the electronics. (still sucks) But I don't think most thieves would get excited by crankbaits and soft plastics, ya know? Let's hope for the best. nevermind, just read your post... sorry to hear man. Quote
simplejoe Posted January 16, 2010 Author Posted January 16, 2010 I just got off the phone with insurance company. They didn't even lube me up before they screwed me. They only gave me $1000 bucks for 11 rods and reels and a Life vest. Bad part is I have a $500 deductable, so that leaves me $500 to get all new stuff. I know I had way more than a thousand dollars in rods and stuff but that's all they will give. > Here's my rant- I pay all of this insurance for the past 5 years and for what? They just take your money and run anyway. They don't want to help you at all, they just want to collect your money and say sorry for your luck better luck next time. I'm ticked off now. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 16, 2010 Super User Posted January 16, 2010 Don't know the fine print on your policy but policies differ. Some are replacement value ( proof of receipt required) and others are compensation for used equipment, at least that is the way it works for HO policies. The less cost of the plan the more the deductible. Quote
Bassnajr Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Insurance...an un-nessecary evil!! You only find out how much "they" suck until you need them. My advice.....hit the Flea Market here with the money they gave you and have at it!!!!! Quote
simplejoe Posted January 17, 2010 Author Posted January 17, 2010 I am Alan, I also got Speedbead and dick helping me out. I also wanted to say thanks here on the board to: Bassnajr- Alan, thank you so much for the Life vest. I will wear it. Firefightin15- Brian, thanks so much for the reel. I get to see you in a few months so we can do some fishing together. ;D Volfan60- Thanks so much for the reel also. I'm still going to try and get you to go to Pickwick this year. You guys the way I see it, I'm in debt to you so if there's anything you guys EVER need let me know. Quote
VABassin'14 Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Wow, I am absolutely thrilled to see how people on this site truly care about the other members. I just make me feel really good seeing friends helping each other out when they need it the most. I'm proud to be apart of this great, well, "family?" Quote
Simp Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Simplejoe like everybody else I'm sorry to hear your having to go threw this. As a kid growing up we had two house fires where I lost just about everything. I'm still not over loosing my Upper Deck King Griffy Jr rookie card. I hope in some small way the generosity on this board helps renew your belief in humanity, because I'm sure you feel violated at the moment. Try not to let it get you down and start planning your purchases out. Remember there are a ton of great deals on the flea market! Quote
simplejoe Posted January 19, 2010 Author Posted January 19, 2010 Simp, Thanks for the support bro. I'm trying to spend this $500 carefully and not dig into the Roadtrip money too much. I start back on tounaments in May so I need to start getting rods. I've been in the flea market lurking around to see what I can find and there some rods in there I wanna buy, just waiting for the check to come. Quote
spinnerbaitking Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 it takes all kinds even idiots to make the world turn, sorry to hear, is your insurance going to come throw for you Opps missed were you said how much your getting, are they sending some lubricate with your check, cause that isn't right Sbking Quote
kikstand454 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 sorry for your loss man. i cant even imagine it. not to make light of the situation... but its seems to me the real theives here are the insurance companies. you were alot more hurt by THEIR greed than those of the crackheads that stole your gear. its a d**n shame. Quote
angler1 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Sorry for your lose. This just happend to a guy in my club. He was actually storing it inside some kind of shrink wrap tent in a storage facility. He would check on the boat 3x a week. One day he went to do his check, someone slit the side of the tent and cleaned him totally out. I think he is working with his ins co on replacements. Quote
simplejoe Posted January 20, 2010 Author Posted January 20, 2010 I usually take everything out winter anyway to clean it, go though it all and straighten it all up, then put it all on shelves. This year I swept out the boat, looked at the tackle to get a count for what I needed and put it all back, figured I had all winter to do it. I did clean most of my reels, so whoever has them they're all greased up and ready. > Quote
