Senko77 just rolled into town and right into a big BS session in the lobby.

:D

Great dinner tonight courtesy of roadwarrior, great presentations by Big-O and JJ of JJ's Magic.  Big-O spilled the beans on the newest Rage Tail baits.  Hope they perform as good as they look.  ;)

Cold, windy, rainy and snowy today. I did get a chance to show Jimzee and 5bass how to catch fish though. ;D

OK guys, this is the thread we will be compiling all the days info on to let y'all know who was hot,......and who was not, lol.

A recap.

Saturday-about 1/2 of us arrived early and got a good 1/2 day of fishing in before the weather began to change. Some folks stayed out anyway. Lots of smaller buck bass were caught, I don't think anyone zero'd.

Burley highlined and still holds the spot. His fish was 5.2lbs I believe.

We spent the night getting to know each other and picking each others brains. Folks, we have some top notch anglers here this yr.

Sunday-

BAD WEATHER!!

High winds, sporadic heavy rains and the temps dropped drastically as the threat of a tornado loomed in the air.

We spent the day exploring, catching up on sleep and rigging gear for Tuesday. We had a visit from Paul (Hawg-caller). Great to meet him in person but it's tough to see a member who wants to stay and play but can't.

We all met down at the Bay View House on the water and RW cooked up some burgers and beans for dinner. After dinner we were treated to a personal seminar by Steve Parks (Big O) on rigging and applications for the line of Rage Tail Baits. We were also given the inside scoop on what's to come and folks, there are some innovative designs coming to your tackle box soon. Very Cool stuff. After ig O, we had JJ Polack, from JJ's majic, give us some tips and pointers on how to alter your baits and make them stand out from the others. When he opened the jar, I was immediately brought back to the 2nd road trip and Muddys meatballs. The room FILLED with the beautiful aroma of garlic. Again, very informative and interesting to hear about these products from the creators. What a resource.

Ryan (Senko77) also showed up about midnight. It's great to see all my all friends again.

So,...I'm one of the 1st ones up today and the weather has cleared. The temps are a bit low still but the wind has knocked down and the sun is out.

It's spawn time. Full moon week. Stay tuned,....the team is about to make y'all wish you were here even more than you do now. Kentucky Lake is a gem with tons of very eye appealing territory to cover. I have full confidence that the knowledge contained in this here group can find them. Report to follow.

cart7 and I had a nice rough ride up the lake this morning.  Main lake was capping, waves were probably 3-4' in the main channel.  I don't think I've ever had a colder boat ride.

We dinked around for the morning.  Only fish of note was a 15-16" crappie (croppie if you live around here, right Bud?  ;) ) cart caught on a Pointer.  I canght a couple, he caught a great many dinks and a super dinky white bass.

We came in a little while ago, d**n near frozen to the bone.  The lake has calmed a bit, but the wind is still pretty wicked.

To quote Burley....

"That was the roughest water I ever been on in a boat."

;D

We caught plenty of air time.  I guess I should've put those rod buckles on as the rods were going all over the place.

I'm pretty certain we can all get into bigger fish but it's just getting to them and trying to hold a boat in position to fish for them that's the hard part right now.  The wind is just killing us.  Tomorrow and Thursday look to be our best opportunities..

I feel for ya. Last time was out it was windy, I spent 3/4 of my time trying to fight the wind.

Good luck guys...hopefully mother nature will cooperate with ya a bit.

Just a suggestion if the wind is still brutal tomorrow....try Barkley, either go a bit south and put in at Linton or just go over to Lake Barkley State Resort Park and put in at their ramp. That is Little River and off the main lake. Both these areas are better protected from the wind and I've caught some nice uns there. If any doubts about directions just check with Chris.

Tight Lines all....hope the wind dies down and the fishin picks up!!!

So Cart, have you converted Burley into a Patriarch lover yet?

I didn't even touch one of those things.  That said, his rod locker is now full of Shimanos.   ;)

While you were in the room I went back down to the boat to organize things...  While I had the rod locker open airing out the shimano stench,  I accidently spilled some JJ's methioe,,  er  meatheo.... well I don't know how you spell it so I'll just call it JJ's PINK magic all over those green reels.... man, I'm so sorry.

My part of the RoadTrip was short, but sweet.

Mary and I got there Saturday, about 5:30PM. Got checked in and hit the lobby to meet whomever was around. Saw some old friends, and made some new ones. Guys, I'll be in touch.

We set out the wine, cheese, fruit, crackers and chips about 7:00, and had about a dozen people there. We brought five bottle of wine, one a magnum, and Kent contributed two more. We ran out. I miscalculated. It won't happen again, I promise. We are officially blaming CJ for drinking us dry. ;D ;D ;D

We got enough wine into Big-O, that he broke out the Rage Tail baits, and started passing them out. Big-O is a hoot. He was sitting next to Mary, and had her laughing all night. The guy can tell a story. He's also a very knowledgeable fisherman, very free with his advice. Very generous with his baits to boot.

We fished with CJ Sunday. Hit the water about 7:30, with only a couple of mild hangovers. We covered a lot a water, and never quite got onto a pattern. We put a lot of small fish in the boat. Mary got the first fish, a small keeper. CJ got a nice 2.5 pounder, and the rest were short. All together we got better than 3 dozen fish. CJ gets the award for embracing diversity. In addition to the LM, he got a smallie, a crappie, a drum and a catfish. A Kentucky Slam. :D

Mary's fish were caught mostly on a Strike King 3X worm on a Ike's Spike jighead; with a few fish on a spinnerbait. Most of mine hit a Space Monkey, rigged on a Shake2 head. I got a few on a spinnerbait, and a couple on a T-rigged Cut Tail worm. CJ got his on a jig, a shakey head, spinnerbait, etc. That was the problem. Too may clues. We caught fish on almost everything we tried. The only real positive clue we had was; they were not shallow.

Had to break out the GoreTex a little after noon, and fished in the rain until the thunder got close. That's when we called it a day.

Special Thanks to CJ for taking us out. He's a great guy to hang with. Mary fell in love with his boat, and all the cool electronics.

Back to the lodge to meet some more old friends, and make some more new ones. What a great bunch of people.

Monday morning, Mary and I went out on the water with Long Mike. WHAT A DAY. Cold, windy, rain, sleet, snow, wowzah. Again, Mary put the first fish in the boat. She had to hold it up and say "see guys, this is what a fish looks like". I can't repeat what I told her. Mike said "the marina is right behind us, we can drop her off now". ;D ;D

We managed six fish and gave it up about two minutes before hypothermia set in.

Another special thanks to Mike for taking us out. If you haven't met Long Mike, make sure you do. He's one of the good guys.

We had to leave way too soon. Can't complain; at least we got to go for a couple of days. Hopefully next year will be better for us.

Now, the rest of you guys who are still there; put up some pics of the big fish I didn't catch, and make me feel even worse. ;D ;D ;D

You should at least cast one a couple of times.  Are you still in the lead with the five pounder?

Great dinner tonight thanks to Speedbead.  He put a ton of work today and it turned out great.

Also thanks to Deb for making a dessert that was just too d**n good.  I ate way too much and am feeling pretty darn sick right now.

The dinners have been great.  Many thanks to RW and Speedbead on the main dishes, and Deb and Jeff on the desserts!!  Absolutely outstanding!

Keri, RW, and I boated 26 largemouths today in protected coves.  Wind wasn't an issue.  We really keyed on a very specific pattern - dragging green pumpkin plastics and black/blue jigs in 12' of water.  Had a few blowups on spinnerbaits in super shallow water, but the consistent bite was deeper.

Wx report for tomorrow is sunny and warm, with tamer winds.  We should be about to get out and hit some main lake points to target the big girls. Can't wait!

Wind picked up again today, made for a somewhat fun ride back across the lake in 5bass's Gambler.

Why do I pack sunscreen and never use it?

I got 6 or 7 bites today, hooked two of those and got broken off once.  5bass started the day with a nice 3 pounder, then never broke 1.5 lbs. the rest of the day.  He did outcatch me by a factor of at least 8 to 1.

However, I did manage to d**n near bury his truck in the mud at the ramp.   :-[
