HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I'm looking to try something different/new, soft plastic jig trailer that gives off a good THUMP! Currently use Zoom fat alberts twin tail, but when I'm looking for more vibration, the Paca Craw or Paca Chunk. Anyone know of a decent trailer that flaps and vibrates on descent, possibly a good hand pour? I have also tried the Rage Chunks as well, but as I stated I'm looking for something new or at least one I've never tried. Thanks in advance for your input! Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted November 20, 2008 Super User Posted November 20, 2008 Hard to go wrong with a paca or rage. A few other ideas would be zoom super speed craw.It has oversized claws and a slender body that could be ripped to size if desired. A sizmic toad or sizmic jr model.I like these for swimming around slop.Yum craw papi. Quote
Bassboss Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I picked up some Gander Mt. jig trailers last weekend, they look like a Paca Chunk, and a yum chunk combined, lets hope they work! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 20, 2008 Super User Posted November 20, 2008 My #1 trailer is the GYCB Flappin' Hog. The NetBaits Baby Paca Craws are a close second. 8-) Quote

Not much flappin going on at all on descent.Though,I thank you for your input Quote
Matt 825 Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Try a Zoom Speed Craw. Flaps much more than a paca craw and its a little bigger. I had good success at Champlain with this trailer last summer. Quote
tyrius. Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 I'd move up in size from the Paca Chunk to the Paca Craw and from the Rage Chunk to the Rage Lobster. I think those two are going to give you the most thump for commercially available trailers. You may be able to find some odd creature baits with tons of appendages that also have lots of movement. For example, look at the Verticle Lures Creature X or the Wave Tiki Platypus. I've never used these, but they look like they'll provide a LOT of action. You could also REALLY get crazy and try a Paca Frog. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 20, 2008 Super User Posted November 20, 2008 I need a slower fall and bigger profile Reaction Innovation's Double Wide Beaver. Quick story: Last summer while waiting on friends to show up, I was fishing a very active launch ramp with an entire tournament coming in. Apparantly the day had been slow, but as luck would have it, I hooked up with a 6 1/2 lb largemouth which jumped several times. By the time I caught, weighed and released the fish, I was surrounded by at least fifty guys! Lure: 1/2 oz black Micro Munch Tackle jig/ blue Double Wide. 8-) Quote

Super User CWB Posted November 21, 2008 Super User Posted November 21, 2008 Scrub looks great! Where did you find them? I think Poor Boys make something similar and are hand pours. I've had pretty good luck with the Chigger Craw. Quote

Super User Dan: Posted November 24, 2008 Super User Posted November 24, 2008 Some people already mentioned using frogs as trailers. I saw a tv show with either Shaw Grigsby or Hank Parker (i don't remember which one it was) used a Berkley bat wing frog as a trailer and did well. I think if you want a thump a frog might be worth a shot. Quote
Dorkus Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 paul i really like the zoom speed craws, I use them on round head finesse jigs and they really produce in the springtime. They really pulse on the lift, and I get the most strikes on the second fall. They are also good weightless, shakeyhead, or t-rigged. Of course you know about otters, and a bait that compares to that flappy action is the yum craw papi. PS. Tin, I like the name change Quote
