snapper G Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I'd like to, get in to swim baiting, but all the ones i see are like 20 to 50 bucks! So could some one advise me a cheep, yet effective swim bait, that's under 10$. it would be nice if it was slow sinking and had a weed guard, but not a necessity. :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? :-? Super User Chris at Tech Posted September 21, 2008 Super User Posted September 21, 2008 Pick up a pack or two of the Strike King Shadalicious soft swimbaits. Quote
Red Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 i have had great luck on the lake fork live magic shad Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 21, 2008 Super User Posted September 21, 2008 not many good swimbaits are cheap. the storm kickin' minnow is well worth the $2.50 or whatever it costs, but they get torn up like no tomorrow, so you might want to buy a few. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_83530____SearchResults Quote
Branuss04 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Very hard to find any good swimbaits under $10. Upgrade to $20 and you'll expand your horizon. Look at the 3:16 soft baits. The mission fish, mighty minnow, etc are great and effective baits. Mattlures baits are great as well. Swimbaits aren't cheap!@!!!!!!! Quote
Primus Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Try the River To Sea V joint wake minnow in Chartreuse Shad, I've been real pleased and it only runs $ 7.99 Quote
platinumjason Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 If you find any good producing swim baits for cheap let me know, this is the most pricey way to fish. Quote
-ebby- Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 tackle warehouse has a sale on them right now, if you would have asked this sooner you could have gotten alot of good prices. a baitsmith bluegill was only 9.99 mattlures gill was twelve most of the really good deals are sold out but there are still some cheap ones on there Quote

BossierBassHunter Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 are the really simple soft plastic ones like the Strike King Shad-a-licious any good? how do you fish them? Quote
-ebby- Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 i had some of the strike king and didn't like them, some of the other brands are better you just texas rig with a wieghted hook cast out and reel in. im not sure what the one i have now are but i like those they have alot more action. a good cheap option could be mattlures minnow http://www.***.com/http://www.***.com/descpageSWMMATT-MLSD.html for 2.99 i just got a couple packs and they look good but i haven't used them, if they are any thing like the baby bass they will be great. http://www.***.com/http://www.***.com/closeouts.html there are some of the hollow belly ones one sale here too. Super User Matt Fly Posted September 22, 2008 Super User Posted September 22, 2008 I have said that due to Texas waters being stained, you can get away with cheap Storm Swim baits. I can catch stripers and Hybrids on them and they don't tear up as bad as some like to say. If I was fishing clear waters, then cheap is not the way to go. But for the majority of the waters in Texas, not a bad way to go. You can't beat 3.50 for 3-4 in a bag. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 22, 2008 Super User Posted September 22, 2008 Red, can you post a pic how you rig the Lake Fork swimbait, please? In the central section, Tom Redington, a Lake Fork guide posted a how to rig post on Live Magic Shads. maybe a few pages back. Great read. Quote
