avid Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 when the primary forage is shad, and the bass are schooled up in 6-10 feet of moderately stained water, What is your go-to lipped crankbait? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 19, 2008 Super User Posted September 19, 2008 Excalibur Fat Free Shad, color: Threadfin shad (white) http://www.tackletour.com/reviewexcaliburffs.html Note: I would recommend trying the Lucky Craft Pointer 100, too! This is a suspending jerkbait, not a crankbait, but a "minnow" profile. 8-) Quote

Uncle Leo Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Wiggle Wart, became my favorite since the first time I used one. 1st cast LMB, second cast to same area Walleye, neither were that big but it killed the skunk that day. Quote
westpalmfrogpunk Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Any of the strike king series. I killed them last year on the sexy shad. the series 5 and 4s was just dragging them in. Quote
Stringjam Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Towards the deeper end of that (7-10'), this bait from Big M: For a round bait in the 7-10' range, the Poe's Comp Cedars 4300. I still really dig a good ole' Bomber 7A, too. Quote
The_Natural Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Undoubtedly the Moonsault cb100 in chartreuse shad. I had those exact conditions last week on Lake Arlington here in Texas. The cool weather had the fish schooling up around the dam area. I was fan casting and burning a cb100 and caught 15 keepers. No hawgs, but my best five would have gone 13-14lbs. the cb100 dives to about 4ft on 10lb fluoro, which is perfect for the aforementioned conditions. The shad generally school closer to the surface, with the bass underneath them...hence why you see 'busts' or a splash from a shad getting attacked. Give the cb100 a try; you won't be disappointed.
