So i heard about this awhile ago but just remembered about it and figured i would post it. What do you guys think about writing the diving depth of a crank on it bill with a sharpie? Do you think it would matter to the fish? Have any of you actually done this?

I write it in Sharpie on the crankbait body, just beneath where the lip meets the body.

I don't think it matters to the bass -- I've yet to find a fish that can read  ;)

Yea, i didn't think it would matter, but i just thought that it might be noticeable in the water on a clear plastic lip.

I've been marking my cranks for several years, either on the body or the lip.  Don't think there is much chance of it putting the bass off.

It may even interest them.......mmmmm let's see, this guy's using a Rapala DT06 in Fuschia/silver.  Wonder what it tastes like.   ;)

if  you're concerned with fish seeing the sharpie just take an xacto knife or something and scratch the diving depth into the bill. this way, you cant see it, and it won't wear off over time like a sharpie will.

The Rapala DT Series has the Dive to depth stamped on the bills. They're what I use, don't other tackle manufacturers do the same.

Good question OK; Storm doesn't and neither does Norman on all their models. I think the issue also is, sometimes the line and equipment i am using changes things and there may be a difference on what the manufacturer says they will do and how they work for an individual angler.

x2

I use the same setup for most of my cranks, so I don't have a problem with the gear effecting the depth too much.

You really don't have any other brand of crank baits ? That's mind boggling.
