njbasser Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 So i heard about this awhile ago but just remembered about it and figured i would post it. What do you guys think about writing the diving depth of a crank on it bill with a sharpie? Do you think it would matter to the fish? Have any of you actually done this? Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted August 30, 2008 Super User Posted August 30, 2008 I write it in Sharpie on the crankbait body, just beneath where the lip meets the body. I don't think it matters to the bass -- I've yet to find a fish that can read Quote

Tucson Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I've been marking my cranks for several years, either on the body or the lip. Don't think there is much chance of it putting the bass off. It may even interest them.......mmmmm let's see, this guy's using a Rapala DT06 in Fuschia/silver. Wonder what it tastes like. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted August 30, 2008 Super User Posted August 30, 2008 I use invisible ink, thety can't see it Quote
toolpush Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Don't you get invisible ink wet to see it? Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted August 30, 2008 Super User Posted August 30, 2008 if you're concerned with fish seeing the sharpie just take an xacto knife or something and scratch the diving depth into the bill. this way, you cant see it, and it won't wear off over time like a sharpie will. Quote
S I G M A Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I write mine on with a fine tipped sharpie Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted August 30, 2008 Super User Posted August 30, 2008 Write away , the fish don't mind. Quote
OK Bass Hunter Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 The Rapala DT Series has the Dive to depth stamped on the bills. They're what I use, don't other tackle manufacturers do the same. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted August 30, 2008 Super User Posted August 30, 2008 Good question OK; Storm doesn't and neither does Norman on all their models. I think the issue also is, sometimes the line and equipment i am using changes things and there may be a difference on what the manufacturer says they will do and how they work for an individual angler. CookieMonst3r Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I wouldn't write the diving depth, because the diving depth depends on the line your using, and other factors. Quote
