caught my first (and only) * fish today.

i was jiggling/crawling it on the bottom and then i reeled in to start my next cast and when i was bringing the lure up, it was about a foot underwater and this bass just inhaled it!!!!!

i was amazed at how deeply it was hooked. it wasnt a gullet hook, but it was about as far back as you can go on the roof of the mouth.

he really wanted that lure.

anyway, i noticed that my * would slide down the jighead quite often. i was using a standard gammie ball jighead. i was wondering if using a drop of regular superglue would hold it on the jig?

I am almost out of ***.  I am going to order a ton more before springtime though.  During the fall, I don't use them as much as I do in spring and summer.  Just something weird that I do.

A drop of glue would help.  Normally I just change baits.  If you rig them on a EWG hook with a pegged bullet weight, that works well to hold them as well.  I think I use a 2/0 or 3/0.  Normally I fish them on an exposed hook jighead around sparse cover.  If the cover is really snaggy, I generally fish with a traditional jig.

my wallet doesnt allow me the liberty of doing this  :)

anyway, i was picking up a lot of weeds using this on an exposed jig head. i could use a 2/0 EWG with a parasite weight (locks bait to hook) but those hooks are pretty large to use on ***. i just thought of some mustad stinger hooks that i have that i tie bass bugs on, i'll bet they are the perfect size. they have a big gap, but they arent offset. i suppose i could just take pliers and make em offset ;D

well now im going to go experiment with ways of rigging this tricky little bait  ;)

Most of the water that I fish allows me to get away with the exposed hook.  I rarely texas rig them, so I can't tell you which hook I use.  Just whichever one fits.  Something to look into is the title shot jighead from www.jigfish.com (FinTech lures).  This is a GREAT tool for fishing heavy tackle weedlessly in heavy cover.

But as I've said a bunch, when the grass gets thick, I generally turn to a flordia rig over any kind of jig.
