bassnleo Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Hey all As I type this I'm still shaken. A PA State Trooper from our county's station was killed yesterday. We are a rural county and a close knit law enforcement community. We all know each other, our wives, our children, by first name. We work together and play together. My dept.'s officers were the first to respond as the shooting happened just miles from our city. The suspect killed his wife, Trooper Paul Richey, then himself. Trooper Richey leaves behind a wife, son, and daughter. Please say a prayer for the family. RIP brother Richey. Quote
Sfritr Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Very sorry for your loss, and ours. My family will keep his wife and children in our prayers. Quote

Super User firefightn15 Posted January 14, 2010 Super User Posted January 14, 2010 Read about it on Fox last nite. I have many friends in law enforcement, most from local small towns and villages. I used to wonder why so many of them would vest up in our little retirement towns, but haven't for many years. Tragic stories like this are a testament to how things can go bad for these people in a split second. Sorry to hear of your community loss. RIP Paul Richey Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted January 14, 2010 Super User Posted January 14, 2010 I know how little the words of an outsider mean to you just now, but I must tell you how deeply I sympathize with you and the officer's family. -Kent Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 14, 2010 Super User Posted January 14, 2010 Sorry to hear man. I was with my buddy last night when he received an email about the situation (he works for the DOH-Emergency Preparedness in Harrisburg). Very sad to hear. Domestics are always a crappy situation. Take care man. Quote

Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 14, 2010 Super User Posted January 14, 2010 I just got home from a relatively good day on the job but now I'm numb and teared up. I've been on the job 22 yrs and have seen several of my co-workers go in the line of duty. The loss of a brother officer in the line of duty hits hard, even if we've never met. I will keep Trooper Richey and his family in my prayers. Please give me an address where I send donations for the family. Quote
Black Bass Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 What a tragedy. Thanks to all, and their families, who are willing to serve for the benefit of the rest of us. We keep them all in our prayers. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted January 15, 2010 Super User Posted January 15, 2010 I will pray for all involved in this tragedy. My thanks and prayers are also with all who serve. What you do makes a difference. Never lose sight of that. Kirby Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 15, 2010 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 15, 2010 We've had 6 officers killed in the line of duty in the last 2 months in my neck of the woods. All were murdered. It is indeed, a very sad time in law enforcement. Quote

Super User Sam Posted January 15, 2010 Super User Posted January 15, 2010 That is awful. I guess I still subscribe to the Korean way of fighting that I learned in Viet Nam: No Prisoners. T&P to the family. Quote
